Former DynCorp employee, James Markwith gets 20 years for child porn conviction

Contractor Who was Stationed in Afghanistan is Sentenced to 20 Years in Federal Prison for Sending Images of Child Pornography to a Fort Worth Resident

(FBI) – FORT WORTH, TX – Decemmber 21, 2012 – A New Hampshire man stationed in Afghanistan who sent child pornography to a Fort Worth, Texas, resident, whom he met while he attended DynCorp International job training in Fort Worth, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge John McBryde to 240 months in federal prison and a lifetime of supervised release, announced U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña of the Northern District of Texas. James M. Markwith, 31, pleaded guilty in September 2012 to an indictment charging one count of transporting and distributing a visual depiction of a minor for importation into the U.S. Markwith has been in federal custody since his arrest in June 2012 in the District of New Hampshire on a related charge filed in the Northern District of Texas.

Halliburton senior vice-president and six others nabbed in prostitution sting
Clifford Pugh – (Culture Map) – October 12, 2012 –  A Halliburton senior vice president and six others were arrested Thursday in an undercover prostitution sting in north Harris County. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office vice unit focused on suspects soliciting sex online and set up the sting operation from a motel located off I-45 and FM 1960.

DynCorp employee James Markwith, charged with distributing child porn while working in Afghanistan

Nashua man charged with distributing child pornography while working as a defense contractor in Afghanistan

Joseph G. Cote – (Nashua Telegraph) – NASHUA, NH – June 20, 2012 – A Nashua man was arrested by federal authorities Monday and charged with electronically sending child pornography images while working as a contractor stationed in Afghanistan earlier this year.

James Markwith, 31, of 56 Dexter Drive, was arrested on a warrant charging him with transporting and distributing images of child sexual abuse, according to documents filed at U.S. District Court in Concord.

Markwith was working for DynCorp International, a defense contractor, and was stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan, in April, according to an affidavit filed by FBI special agent Marya Wilkerson.

He was arrested Monday, according to a Nashua police arrest log.

On April 7, Markwith was speaking via Skype, an online video conferencing service, with a person in Fort Worth, Texas, and admitted to having sexual contact with a girl younger than 10, according to the affidavit.

Later that day, Markwith sent eight to 10 images of a very young girl in suggestive poses and partly nude, according to police.

Former DoS special agent James Cafferty sentenced to 7 years on child porn conviction

The e-mail arrived in James Charles Cafferty’s inbox on July 14, 2011. Unlike most unsolicited e-mail on the Internet, the message did not pitch mortgages, get rich quick scams, or penis pills. Instead, it provided a link to an under-the-radar child pornography website and the password needed to access it. Former State Department Agent Sentenced for Transportation of Child Pornography

(FBI) – TAMPA – April 26, 2012 – United States Attorney Robert E. O’Neill announces that United States District Judge Richard A. Lazzara sentenced James Cafferty (45, Largo) to seven years in federal prison, followed by a lifetime term of supervised release, for transporting child pornography. Cafferty pled guilty on January 5, 2012.

Former KBR employee Keith Strimple sentenced to just over 2 years on child porn charge

Former Employee of Government Contractor Sentenced in Oklahoma for Child Pornography Offense

(DoJ) – WASHINGTON – April 11, 2012 – A former employee of a government contractor was sentenced today to 27 months in prison, followed by seven years of supervised release, on a child exploitation charge brought under the Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act (MEJA), announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma Thomas Scott Woodward.

Keith Strimple, 58, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty in January 2012 before Chief U.S. District Judge Gregory Frizzell in the Northern District of Oklahoma to one count of attempted possession of a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

According to court documents and proceedings, Strimple worked as an employee of a government contractor between April and September 2007 at a U.S. military facility at Camp Fallujah, Iraq. During that time period, Strimple admitted that he searched for and downloaded videos of minors that he believed to be as young as 12 years old engaging in sexually explicit conduct and downloaded such images using the contractor’s computer system.

MEJA gives U.S. courts jurisdiction to prosecute crimes committed outside the United States by, among others, employees of a government contractor whose work supports a military mission.
