Iraq not issuing exit visas-KBR employees stranded again
I have been inundated with emails regarding the fact the Government of Iraq is not issuing exit visas (the stamp in your passport as you are leaving a country). This means they are stuck in Iraq! For those who have R&R ‘s scheduled it totally sucks. I lived for my R&R’s. I know how disappointing it would be to be told it is canceled or postponed.
The emails I’ve received are from KBR employees, but I can’t imagine the Iraqi Government is just singling out KBR employees…. or are they.
I guess things are backing up at KBR’s Baghdad Transit Center (BTC). That’s a hell of a place to get stranded.
From what I can tell so far, this does not affect entrance visas for those coming back from R&R but I have to confirm that.
I have sent out emails to “those in the know”, as I learn more I will update this post.
If you get any new information let me know.

Thanks for the comment. Maybe stranded was too strong of word. They were asked to go back to their camps so that BTC would not be so congested.
Are you saying everything is back to normal and everyone is coming and going as required?

I just received exit visas for 8 of my guys today and to the best of my knowledge there has been no stoppage in issuing exit visas… Why would anyone care if KBR people “left” the country..

The complaints I got were from KBR employees. I’m glad your company is not affected. I’m not sure what it going on. I remember when the Iraqi Government shut down KBR’s charters and people were stuck in Dubai and BTC. Who knows why the Iraqi Government does anything that they do.
Thanks for the info.

Probably someone from KBR didn’t submit on a timely basis. When the Iraqi government shut down the charters it was a licensing issue. Once it was fixed they started flying again. The rest of us without the magic lanyard just bought a ticket like a normal person and continued to fly. The Airport in Baghdad functions on a fairly normal level and the security is tighter than anything I have ever experienced anywhere else.

I worked for them before in another country. If you quit or are terminated you pay your way home. Also, after boots on the ground they will say you must wear collared shirts and have a cell phone. No one was re-imbursed as there was always a problem with the forms turned in. Stay away from barbara Phillips or a Mary something!!!
