KBR is adding one more member to their Retired General’s Club. LTG (Ret) John J. Cusick will replace KBR’s current LOGCAP III Principal Program Manager, LTG (Ret) who has recently announced his retirement. replaced LTG (Ret) Steven L Arnold in 2006 and was Principal Program Manager from 2006-2007 and then again from December 2008-present. It is expected will be at LOGCAP III HQ in Baghdad by the end of this month.

LTG (Ret) Cusick attended the University of Scranton, graduating in 1964 with a BS degree in American History and Political Science. He was commissioned 31 May 1964 from University of Scranton Reserve Officers Training Corps and served in the military for 34 years, in peace and war, retiring in June 1998 as the Director of Logistics, Joint Staff.

LTG (Ret) Cusick’s assignments included three tours of duty in the 82d Airborne Division, including battalion and brigade command. He commanded the XVIII Airborne Corps, Corps Support Command (COSCOM) and spent a total of 16 years throughout his career serving with paratrooper. His General Officer assignments included: Commanding General of the Defense Support Center, Philadelphia with a $6B procurement mission to supply food, medical supplies and clothing for all Services. He then became the 42d Quartermaster General of the U.S. Army, working with Quartermaster soldiers worldwide and training 22,000 soldiers annually. LTG (Ret) Cusick’s next assignment was as the Director of Supply and Maintenance for the Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics (G-4) responsible for logistics policies and procedures across the Army. He next took command of the Aviation and Troop Support Command in St. Louis, MO and was responsible for the maintenance and supply of all Army helicopters and fixed wing aircraft worldwide, as well as troop support equipment.

While on Active Duty, LTG (Ret) Cusick also received a Masters Degree in American History from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and a Masters Degree in Management from Webster University, St. Louis, MO.

Upon his retirement, LTG (Ret) Cusick went to work with Florida Power and Light, the largest utility in the State of Florida as the Vice President for Logistics. He consolidated the corporations multiple supply chains saving the company in excess of $500M over a 4 year period. He then operated his own consulting business working with large and small businesses across the U.S. In October 2006, he joined MPRI as the Senior Vice President for Logistics with a mission to consolidate and enhance logistics business opportunities across the company and the L-3 Communications Services Group.

I must say I have trepidations regarding General Cusicks ability manage KBR employees. They are not soldiers. They are civilian contractors. They are the people taking care of our soldiers and they shouldn’t be used and abused. I hope General Cusicks also chooses to protect our soldiers and civilians from rape, assault, harassment and environmental hazards such as the burns pits, carcinogens, microbes etc. Unlike the decisions of current and former KBR managers, the end does not justify the means.
