Resume advice for LOGCAP job seekers

FacebookStumbleUponRedditDiggLinkedInShare

A resume is similar to gourmet cooking which is defined as “Good food prepared simply”. Ask any chef in the world, and they’ll tell you the same thing – it’s all about presentation.

Similarly, when applying for a LOGCAP position, you may be the most qualified applicant within a field of candidates, but if you don’t showcase your experience in a manner that fully communicates your qualifications, you will quite often be passed over in favor of an applicant who may be less qualified, but has a prettier resume.

Can you answer these questions correctly:

What are the 3 most important things in real estate?

Answer:

  • Location
  • Location
  • Location

What are the 3 most important things in a resume?

Answer:

  • Presentation
  • Presentation
  • Presentation

This universal truth applies whether you’re applying for an entry level labor position, a management position, or a technical position – no matter how experienced, or how well qualified you may be, if you don’t present your knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) in a manner which sets you apart from the rest of the crowd, you will just get lost in the resume shuffle.

You must ask yourself: “Why would a recruiter be interested in making a job offer to me as opposed to the next guy? What makes me so different? What distinguishes me from the rest of the crowd?”

Thinking about working in Afghanistan? Take a Look at These 5 Crucial Points.

If you’re looking for high-paying work as a military or civilian contractor and have no issues about working in a region that is higher than normal risk, Afghanistan should never be far from your considerations. But what are some of the reasons that well-paying, high-value contracts still exist there? I’ve rounded up 5 ways that working in Afghanistan will continue to remain viable.

#5: Pakistan is The Key.

At the moment, there is a big north American push on Pakistan, whose secret service and government has been responsible (indirectly) for funding a lot of the mess that has gone on in Afghanistan (depending on who you talk to). As Pakistan comes around to the US-centered point of view, it will create further opportunity in Afghanistan due to the massive changes Pakistan can enact.

#4: The Afghanistan Election Results.

Sadly, democratic elections in Afghanistan are still something that we’ll have to hope for in the future — a lot of money was spent just getting to where we’re at now, and a lot more will be spent — and further jobs created — as we try and make future elections (or re-dos) much fairer.

#3: The US Government Continues to Deploy Contractors.

While political fortunes might actually rise and fall on the fate of Afghanistan — and not just in the USA, but also with some key allies — there are decisions being made about the country that are not going to be ultra-popular among the media. These include the fact that more contracts are going to be created there, because the infrastructure and future planning demands it. That’s important for you.

#2: There is No Way Anyone Can Suggest The Job is Done.

It’s a sad fact that Afghanistan has been the ‘forgotten’ war for so long, but now that the situation in Iraq has slightly calmed down, eyes have returned to the original focus. This war has now gone on longer than both World Wars (in terms of American involvement), and sadly nothing has been fully resolved. This means further engagement for some time.

#1: Pay Should Continue to Remain Quite High.

There’s no point dancing around the subject — working in Afghanistan is subject to much higher risks than other places in the world. But as a result, pay will continue to remain at a strong level as long as the risks are there. Situations might change when the country seriously stabilizes, but right now the US government has basically accepted that Afghanistan represents a seriously high — and unavoidable — cost for the foreseeable future.

  1. Comment by Jeff S:

I was very skeptical at first, and debated for more than a week before I even contacted Mr. Diggs. I read comment after comment of people who were impressed with his work and decided to give it a go.

I previously thought my resume was good. In fact, for domestic jobs, it is pretty good. But it wasn’t getting me anywhere with LOGCAP jobs I applied for.

When I contacted Mr. Diggs, he offered to review my resume free of charge. When he got back to me saying that he could help, I sent the money and with in a day I had a list of questions which needed clarification. Two days after he received my answers I had a the quality review in my inbox. A few hours later, the final copy.

Mr. Diggs is completely professional and to anyone questioning if this is legitimate, I assure you it is. The turn around time is absolutely amazing and the finished product puts my old resume to shame.

It remains to be seen if I get on the LOGCAP project or not, but there is no question in my mind that if I do, this new resume will be the biggest contributing factor. Mr. Diggs was able to take my experience and articulate it in a manner that will stand out to LOGCAP recruiters.

Bottom line, this new resume is AMAZING. It exceeded my expectations by a long shot. When I opened it for the first time, I was actually speechless.

I may not be able to convince people like “Marine”, but I am not here to worry about his opinion. I am here specifically for the people who like I was, toying with the idea and sitting on the fence. This is a great, professional service which I believe will give you an edge in these LOGCAP resume databases. But, if you can’t make a decision, I guess that is just a little less competition for me and my awesome new resume. :)

    Thank you Mr. Diggs!

I will recommend your service for as long as you continue offering it.

    Jeff

  3. Comment by Anonymous "thrilled":

I fully concur with Jeff’s statements and opinions regarding Mr. Diggs talent in resume “re-altering”. I to thought I had a good resume, but could never imagine the professional language used in my new resume. I received my new resume within hours and posted it to some of the jobs I have been after. I received an offer within 2 weeks. Keep in mind everyone’s experience is different, but if you are really serious and need a little help over that hump then I STRONGLY recommend Mr.Diggs service. Nominal fee for something truly worth more than you paid. Thanks again Bruce. Had to remain anonymous for reasons you can understand.

  6. Comment by Kat:

I am so excited to let you know Bruce that I have started processing with LogCap Contractor! And truth be known, I was just about to give up after almost a year of trying. But one last effort on my part, with Bruce’s help with my resume paid off!

Usually my advice to others is have a great resume. And for an investment of $75.00 you can have a resume that will standout in a crowd. But, I have to say now, that you have got to be professional, be prepared for everything and last but most important, be patient!

Just because you don’t get a call from a recruiter right away, don’t give up and quit. There are plenty of jobs, a hand full of recruiters and thousands and thousands of applicants. It takes a while for recruiters to sift thru applications!

Thank goodness Bruce is patient! He fielded questions from me for a long time! Bruce’s services continue long after the sale! ;)

    Thanks a million Bruce!
    Kat

I’m so proud of you!!! Been a long time coming and you hung in there tooth and nail!

    • Comment by Bruce Diggs:

      Congratulations Kat!

Your tenacity and patience has served you well and your success provides encouragement for others who may still be waiting. Even with the draw down that has taken place in Iraq, there are still plenty of jobs to be had out there, as you have proven.

For those who may still be waiting, take a lesson from Kat and don’t give up.
For those who may not have applied yet but are considering it, make sure your resume is in order.

      Way to go Kat.

  7. Comment by Sebastien:

My experience with Mr. Diggs resume service was exceptional. In addition to the already low fee in which he provides his resume service, he’s there to answer your questions and make the process as smooth as possible. Although he promises a 7-10 day turn-around, I got my resume back in 5 days. Can’t beat it anywhere without paying added fees.

Previously, I had a “professional resume” done by Monster, which was pretty bland, but clear and concise which cost me approx. $250 and the writer couldn’t even spell properly. I literally had to write a message to my resume writer with Monster and let them know that I couldn’t read what I was looking at. Although it got fixed, I looked straight to LOGCAP positions, and it just couldn’t get the job done. I’ve been hacking at it for 1 year + strong, and it landed me in a pretty F’d up situation that I’m currently trying to get myself out of.

Despite all the crap, I’m excited to say that I’ve finally made a change for the better and awaiting the results that so many speak of. I will be sure to keep this discussion board posted with any updates that may come my way. Well wish me luck. Thanks Bruce!

    Later,

    Sebastien

My pleasure Sebastien – I am to please.

At the core of LogCap4Jobs is my personal commitment to deliver a quality, hand-crafted resume representing a person’s unique qualifications at a competitive price.

For anyone thinking about applying for a position on LOGCAP or other overseas job opportunities, I encourage you to follow Sebastien’s example and make sure your resume is all it can be. Competition for these positions has never been fiercer, and without exception your resume must be designed to crush the competition.

When recruiters read a resume they want to be WOW’ed.

In order for that to happen it takes a resume rich in the language and style they’re looking for, and it definitely takes a resume that has ZERO spelling or grammatical errors.

I am the ANTI-Monster of resume writing.

  9. Comment by JB:

As a previous employee for KBR I thought I had a decent shot at getting back into contracting again with the resume I had. I struggled to get responses for nearly two years before running across. I figured it couldn’t hurt to pay the small fee and get a makeover for my resume. As a result Bruce Diggs turned my resume inside out in less than a week, and gave me something back a million times better than what I had before.
No joke…I submitted the new resume and my 2 years of trying to get back into contracting took less than 12 hours after Bruce got his hands on my info. I got the phone call this morning, and will be processing in Houston very soon. I’m still in disbelief. I’m extremely grateful for his service, and I would recommend it to anyone in a hearbeat. Thanks Bruce for the timely responses, professionalism, and the incredible job you did with my resume!!!

      Congrats!!

    • Comment by Bruce Diggs:

Whoa! That’s gotta be some kind of speed record! Sometimes I even surprise my own self! As a lot of the veterans to LOGCAP can attest to, the complexion and dysnamics of LOGCAP employment have changed. Radically.

It used to be that if you had worked on the project, did your job well and left under good circumstances, you could take some time off and be relatively sure of getting back on after your little vacation – but that was then and this is now.

Two years is a long time and I’ve gotta hand it to you Jason – you hung in there and absolutely REFUSED to give up. Way to go man. That’s what it takes. You never, ever, EVER give up, ’cause applying to a LOGCAP job these days is a WHOLE lot like playing the lottery and one thing is for sure about the lottery –
YOU CAN NOT WIN IF YOU DO NOT PLAY!!!

Anybody else out there been applying and applying and not getting anywhere? Check-out my site and maybe I can help. Of course, I can’t make any guarantees except for one…if your resume is not absolutely perfect and fully optimized with contextually relevant keywords, it will never be read by human eyes because it’s never even going to make it past the computers.

      • Comment by Jason B:

Just to give you an update, and another high five to Bruce…I’m just about finished processing with KBR, and now I’ve had multiple responses from Fluor on other positions with LOGCAP IV. It was amazing to even get a phone call from KBR let alone have another big contractor trying to recruit me at the same time. Great job Bruce! Thanks again.

        Hi Bruce,
I also fall into those categories of LOGCAP veterans that’s been trying to go back and had no luck. I currently have a job but would like to go back. How do I contact you and get help with my resume? I do have couple of questions to ask you offline though. thank you.
