The idiot in this article is Robert Wade Prince.

Defense contractor arrested on Houston flight after ‘international disturbance’
February 15, 9:44 PM

Robert Wade Prince (taken Sept 2009)

(Houston) — Police are calling it an ‘international incident’ in the sky on a flight that was headed for Houston on Sunday, and now a defense contractor is facing at least 2 federal charges.

Houston Police officers say they were called to the gate to meet the arriving flight from Amsterdam, and they found two Federal Air Marshals with a Texas man under arrest.

According to the incident report on file with HPD, the passenger is identified as an employee of Kellogg Brown & Root and he will appear before a federal magistrate this week to answer to charges of Assault on a Federal Officer and  Interference with a Flight Crew, both federal felonies.

Police who interviewed passengers from the flight say the passenger was horribly drunk when he started yelling and groping the female passenger in the seat next to him.

He was confronted by flight attendants, but it continued to escalate so the lead flight attendant alerted one of two Federal Air Marshals on the flight.

Both marshals broke their cover, according to HPD officers, and when they confronted the drunk passenger he started swinging.

As the air marshals took him to the ground to place handcuffs, police reports indicate the man started yelling extreme racial slurs at the black air marshal who was helping to cuff him.   The police report quotes passengers as saying he was shouting that a white man should never be cuffed by a black man.

His language was not so polite, with the ‘N-word’ being thrown at the air marshal during his diatribe.

One officer who helped to escort the handcuffed passenger believed it was a Continental Airlines flight from Amsterdam, but the officer was unable to confirm that on Monday night. (Click HERE for the original article)

If you know the name of this guy email me. As soon as I confirm it, I will publish it.  I guess I am going to have to add a “dumb ass” category for such incidents.

Alabama Man Charged with Interfering with a Flight Crew and Assaulting Federal Air Marshal

HOUSTON—A 47-year-old Alabama man has been arrested and charged with interfering with a flight crew aboard a Continental Airlines flight, assault, and assaulting a federal air marshal, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno announced today.

Robert Wade Prince, 47, of Alabama, was taken into federal custody on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, upon arriving at Bush International Airport Houston (IAH) aboard a Continental flight inbound to Houston from Amsterdam. The criminal complaint filed yesterday alleges Prince had became boisterous and was yelling loudly despite repeated admonitions by the flight crew to cease. Prince is also alleged to have grabbed a female flight attendant by the arm. After a female passenger seated next to Prince complained about Prince inappropriately touching her and his yelling, a male flight attendant asked a federal air marshal to exchange seats with the female passenger. Prince allegedly attempted to block the air marshal from taking the seat. After the air marshal identified himself as a federal officer, Prince allegedly struck the air marshal about the torso twice. Prince was restrained and as a result of his unwillingness to cooperate had to be forcibly removed to the crew rest area of the plane. For the remainder of the flight, the complaint alleges Prince was belligerent and verbally abusive to the air marshal.

Prince, who has remained in custody since his Saturday arrest, is expected to appear before United States Magistrate Judge Mary Milloy this afternoon. The issue of bond is expected to be raised and perhaps decided.

Interfering with flight crew members and attendants carries a punishment range of up to 20 years upon conviction while assaulting an officer carries a maximum punishment of eight years’ imprisonment. Both offenses are also punishable by fines of up to $250,000 each. The third charge—assault—carries a maximum punishment of six months’ incarceration and a $5,000 fine.

The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Houston office of the FBI. Assistant United States Attorney Suzanne Elmilady and Joseph Magliolo are prosecuting the case.

Updated 02/17/2010:
I have received several emails and founds other information about who this guy works for or doesn’t work for. But it would appear he does not work for KBR/SEII on a LOGCAP project.

A little background story before you read the story. This guy lived near me here in Saudi. He’s a big guy…about 6’4 and pushing 300lbs. He had gotten into numerous fights at bars in Bahrain. He left the project last week. Before he left he stayed in Bahrain to party on Thursday and Friday. I heard on Friday he got in a fight in a bar and knocked out some British dude. The article says he’s from Texas, but he’s from Alabama. It says he’s a KBR employee because that is who he was going to work for on his next project in Abu Dhabi. I work for another contractor so I think it’s kind of funny KBR is getting splashed in the news for this.
The night before he left here I wished him good luck and told him maybe I’d run into him somewhere in the future. I hope that doesn’t happen now.

He is NOT a KBR employee. He left KBR in 2003, but it doesn’t appear he was ever on the project. The official justice department filing does not contain anything on KBR, and no one knows how KBR was dragged into this. Speculation is he blurted it out and someone told the reporter, who did not do any fact checking. But, if he was flying Amsterdam-Houston, there is a good chance he was working for someone in the Middle East, and he might have been trying to save his job by not saying who he worked for. Regardless, he is not ours and hasn’t been for years.

No Sparky he does work for KBR, does not exist in our database.  He probably works for another contractor.  If he lives in Alabama according to further reports why would travel via Houston?  Sorry Sparky KBR is off the hook on this one.  See below   http://www.examiner.com/x-6928-Houston-Page-One-Examiner~y2010m2d15-Defense-contractor-arrested-on-Houston-flight-after-international-disturbance

Updated 2/18/2010: Click HERE for a link to the original complaint

I was just emailed this information. It was posted on another site.

  • Robert Wade Prince is the Defendant.
  • Jonathan Gash is the FAM (Federal Air Marshal)
  • (I removed this name) passenger sitting next to Prince.
  • Kathy Bening is a FA (Flight Attendant)
  • Mike Compton is a FA (Flight Attendant)
  • Edgar Irizarry is a FA (Flight Attendant)
  • Patrick Hayes is the lead FA (Flight Attendant)

The complaint says:

  1. About 3 hours into the flight, Prince began yelling “hoo-rah”.
  2. Bening opened the curtain to the crew rest area (right behind Prince’s seat) to see what was up and “no verbal communication with Prince occurred”.
  3. 30 minutes later, Prince started to yell again. At this point, Bening asked Prince what was wrong and to stop yelling. Prince said that he had been in Saudi Arabia for 9 months.
  4. When Bening went to return to her seat and close the curtain to the crew rest area, Prince grabbed Bening’s arm and said “I’m not going to rape you”. Bening pulled away and Prince did it a second time.
  5. Compton came from the forward galley and told Prince to let go of Bening’s arm and calm down. Prince kept saying that he had been to Saudia Arabia.
  6. Hayes asked Gash to take Schmutz’s seat next to Prince since Prince kept elbowing Schmutz, touching Schmutz’s leg and being very loud and Schmutz expressed that she didn’t want to sit there.
  7. Prince didn’t want Gash (still undercover) to take the seat next to him because it belonged to “his girlfriend” and expressed as much.
  8. Gash identified himself as a FAM; Prince responded, “I don’t give a f–k who you are” and elbowed Gash in a “roundhouse” manner twice, striking Gash in the upper torso.
  9. Gash restrained Prince with flex cuffs and asked him to come to the crew rest area. Prince refused and had to be dragged. Irizarry helped Gash give Prince a “full-body search”.
  10. At this point, Prince became “verbally abusive” toward Gash and repeatedly called Gash a “n–ger”. Prince also called Gash a “black mother f–ker” and a “black son of a b–ch” and asked Gash if he “picked on white boys when he was growing up”. Prince also stated that “no black boy should be able to put cuffs on a white man”. Prince continued this verbal abuse until after the plane landed.

Well i guess he had too much of that liquid courage. I am sure we will get a R&R briefing to tell us not to act an ass on a flight. Let me guess he will say it is not his fault he was drunk. A former KBR employee i mean i would sure like to know who this is Sparky :)

      Ms Sparky says:

I am pretty certain he will be a FORMER KBR employee soon if it hasn’t happened already. WHEN I find out….and I will, I will publish it. I’d like to know if he has any other complaints against him for inappropriate behavior, ie….assault, sexual assault, harassment, while in country.

You need to get your facts straight before you blog maam, you are slandering not only a company, but ruining a man who did not commit all the allegations you and your bloggers are jumping on the bandwagon with. Shame on all of you.

          Ms Sparky says:

I get that a lot when a friend or family member is accused of committing a crime. You can’t believe the nasty venomous hate mail I’ve gotten from convicted rapist David Breda’s family and he pled guilty. He’s your friend or family member you jump to his defense that’s not my job, unless of course I think he is innocent and I don’t in this case.

Read what was sent to me from the original complaint. I published it above at the end of the original post. Do you think the Flight Attendants, passengers and Air Marshal’s all got together and decided to single Prince out and ruin his life? Unlikely. That was his own doing. Being drunk is not an excuse for stupid behavior. I’ve sat with jerks on planes before. On a flight from Dubai to Bangkok I was forced to sit with a non English speaking overly amorous totally infatuated with American women man from Channai who had breath so putrid it made my eyes water and my skin burn and he talked non stop! Then he started drinking. The FA’s wouldn’t move me. I begged and pleaded and offered a bribe. Nothing. No seats available. I spent a lot of time in the bathroom. Total BS they wouldn’t deal with him. So….I have NO sympathy for ill mannered passengers on a plane. And KUDO’s to the Flight Attendants and Air Marshals who did deal with him!

I’m sure he has a family in Alabama and I feel sorry for them. But blame him, don’t blame me.

I know Wade Prince as a personal friend. He is one of the kindest, warmest and most decent gentlemen (despite his size) you could wish to meet. Wade was after accepting an offer from the mentioned contractor having finalised his contract with a different over-seas contractor. This is such an unfortunate incident and even though I was not on that particular flight I can assure you that Wade would be more of a nuicance than a threat. He may have over done it with the booze but when your three months dry in Saudi Arabia I can see how easily a few beers can have the most undesireable effects. I wish people who don’t know the guy would not be so quick with their comments because there is a hell of a lot more good in Wade then most people I know. He regrets this more than anyone and if he could take it all back I know for a fact he would. Which of us haven’t slipped up once or twice or more even in our lifetime. He most certainly does not deserve some of the crap being wrote about him. As dpfrien says at the moment it’s allegations. I hope it works out for Wade, he is really a great guy with a huge heart. Someday dude – Kieron

            Ms Sparky says:

From what I have been told he is not an evil person. But this whole “he was drinking he didn’t know what he was doing” or “He was three months dry in Saudi and the beers affecting him more than normal” aren’t going to hold any weight here. Those are the same types of excuses the drunk driver uses after he drinks and drives and wipes out an entire family.

Any of us who have worked overseas in “no alcohol allowed” conditions know those first few beers at the airport or on the plane are going to knock you for a loop. That’s just a part of working overseas! When I drank too much on a flight from Dubai to the US and spent several thousand in Duty Free Free shopping on the flight I didn’t blame it on the wine. I didn’t blame it on my credit card. I blamed it on me!! Trust me….I bought things that a sober person would never buy!

thease guys cant just get drunk and behave..guess used to the iraq code of conduct mis treat woman, racial slurs and behave like an ass, my guess been with KBR for far to long, now he might even have to be transferred, god forbid terminated…(lol) not really funny but sad that that type of behavior makes everyone of us have to work harder to portray a positive image. Another example of a dried up drunk who for some reason drinks 4 mounths of booze in 6-8 hour layover , we have all seen it, and im surprised he was even permitted ot board the plane in Dubai…

Bwahahahahahaha!!!! What an idiot and ass. We all have met this loser in many different places while working for KBR and I’m sure we know that same guy when we see him. Definitely post his name Sparky. You should post the pic of the KBR ass (mule/lanyard) when you put up his name. LMAO…

    ..... says:

    Remember, he’s not KBR, he’s SEII :p

Assuming he wasn’t OAS or BRS… Judging by the article (I know I’m asking for it here) he has to be in either trades or a truck driver either with O&M or TTM.

    • 11
      Ms Sparky says:

Asking for it?? Why not just draw a bulls-eye on your forehead! I’m not saying he’s not O&M or TTM. But are you saying that KBR Security, firefighters, procurement etc do not have the capacity to get drunk and get stupid on an airplane? Come on now! OMG! Can you imagine if it’s a PM or some other manager or should i say former manager?

I WANT THIS GUYS NAME, CAMP AND JOB TITLE!

Living in the Middle East and traveling worldwide I have come across many drunken people on solid ground but never have I heard of a case like this. from abuse on a federal marshal to disorderly conduct and even racial come backs I personally think that this Mr. Robert wade prince should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for the simple fact that airline should not take this type of behavior on any air line and because this type of behavior is not necessary and alcohol is not a good enough excuse for this sorry bast@Rd hope he gets as much time as possible I would personally like to be sent a picture of this man if one is available

          Ms Sparky says:

It is what it is. I went of the original report. Keep in mind…just because KBR says he didn’t work for KBR doesn’t mean he didn’t work for SEII, OAS or that other one I can’t think of at this very moment. They could legally say he does not nor has he worked for KBR and if he worked for SEII or OAS that would be the truth. KBR’s twisted truth but the truth.

Regardless I don’t believe he was working for KBR when he left the Middle East. But may have been coming to Houston to in-process for a job with KBR somewhere else. I was told he was going to Abu Dhabi for KBR.

            Baboo Remembers says:

Regardless of the technicalities, of which KBR subsidiary it might be, at the end of the day it’s still KBR. He might have been sober upon his arrival but inside the terminal and on the plane are two different things. Tell him to Daisy Duke my regards!

you are told alot of things do you always believe them? I would verify before i start to spout off. The normal stuff, i read here everyday i come looking for information but all i get is how much we can talk about KBR LOL. They are still around and will be for a long time. The information is enjoyable to read especially how it is told. When this started off as this guy was working for KBR everyone was here for blood and when it was found out he was not actively working it simmered but of course it is always spin up first and then wait for someone to access information. Comical but very entertaining. If you offer a different opinion here comes the folks from nose bleed seats to add there two cents. I won’t particiapte in the witch hunts any longer. Even it is not KBR.

IF there is any new news on Mr. Prince I will post it. I give Dyncorp and CSA equal time when crap comes up. KBR just has more time in the sand box therefore they have more stuff to talk about. But I will admit you were right about one thing. I believe Dyncorp is worse than KBR.

  12. 28
    TennesseePiper says:

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I regret to say “I know this idiot.” Robert Wade Prince of Alabama did work in Saudi Arabia, Jubail to be exact. He did not work for KBR. I have been working with this guy for the past 6 months, I believe the guy has some serious issues. But who am I to judge, he will get that soon enough. I will say, I know company procedure and even though he may have been employed when he left Saudi Arabia, he will need to look elsewhere for employment now.

    • 29
      FYI says:

I guess that ruins his defense that he was ‘disoriented’ and forgot he wasn’t at work. If he ever gets out he has definite KBR qualities. He could be a project manager in no time.

  13. 30
    Ole Smokey says:

You guys are rediculous. These stories, like most others, always get blown out of proportion. Wade has a good heart and did make a bad judgement. We all have issues in the Middle East bacause it rubs off on you whether you want it to or not. Wade will walk and will work again with little problems. I have personally spoke to individuals working this case and it is not what is being described in the news/blogs. You all know that news channels enlarge things for their benefit. That is their job.
    Sparky, get a grip.

    • 31
      Ms Sparky says:

He assaulted a passenger, a flight attendant and a Federal Air Marshal. He interfered with a flight crew. I’d like to see how he is going to get out of this and walk. Wouldn’t that be interesting.

        Ole Smokey says:

You have absolutley no idea what he did. You are only hearing it from the news and blogs. You are doing exactly what they want you to do. Blow everything out of proportion for attention. What nobody seems to think about are people’s families that are now involved in this situation. They can never believe anything because there is so much crap being spread through unknowing discussions. There will be a full report given and as usual, the truth will come out.

The mere fact that you all dwelled on KBR was enough for me to sit back and laugh. News reports at best! Wow, what puppets!

This contractor is in trouble we all know this and I just hope that if he is requiring some psychological help that he gets it. We all know that working overseas is stressful and so many come back to the states and have trouble adjusting.

Not sure what company he actually worked for. I know a couple do not allow their workers to drink alcohol. Maybe he got on the plane and just really tied one on and then one thing led to another and he made a complete ass out of himself. But I am willing to bet that this is not the only blog on which his behavior is being discussed – and not because any of the rest have anything to do with Government Contractors.

It seems to be time to move on to bigger things.

There are far to many more important things for air marshals to be worried about without having to handle drunks in the air. This sounds more like something you hear about in a bar not on a plane. It was reported as an international incident and was bound to get attention. I don’t really think it would have mattered who he worked for you would have still read about it on this forum and a good many others.

That is a reasonable assumption – and the courts will decide – obviously the guy has a drinking problem( from the blogs previously) From what I have heard, ther is no alcohol permitted in these construction sites in Saudi – so obviously he went on a bender. Sooner or later he was going to get in trouble – may have been already…..

I dont think we are all here to bash the hard working people that work for these multi- billion dollar companies.

The atmosphere over there would make anyone get drunk at the first sign of freedom (look at the military boys/girls on leave, they find themselves in trouble too).

For all the men and women working overseas in a non-military as well as military capacity – stay safe! We’ll see ya when you get home, just dont get arrested on the plane or you won’t enjoy your American Freedom, instead you will end up in the court system fighting one stupid flight home. :)

It is a shame he could not have waited just a few more hours before going on that bender. It will turn out to be a very costly mistake for him I am sure.

This is what happens when you all jump on a band wagon and end up making a complete fool out of this whole thing. When some of thought he was KBR oh boy here we go. But when the correct information came out well i guess we blindly followed like a bunch of ducks maybe next time we will all wait for all of the information instead of misinformation. Case Closed.

What’s sad is KBR and DynCorp are glad that it is small crap like this that we are blogging about rather than all their lawsuits and wasting of tax payers money.

Ms. Sparky lets blog about some major waste fraud and abuse as evident by a recent audit of the State Department. Stay tuned….

Ksniper – I’m sure you are a great person but you are just a warm body for your company. Are you planning to make a life long career out of working for private contractors because eventually you might come home but you will be in a box or one of your extremities is missing. Take care and be safe…

              Ksniper says:

No i am not planning on making this a career, you all make this a big deal instead of talking about fraud waste and abuse. If is not the burn pits it is something else but if it is anyway attached to KBR you guys are on it like stink on shit. KBR just as well as other major contractor wasted billions, i have heard nothing about parsons or bechtel who just walked away from unfinished projects costing the taxpayers millions of dollars and nothing about custer and battles ripped off the governement and got away with it because the contracts did not stay the trucks to transport money had to be running. Yeah i am sure someone will pipe in and call me a kiss ass but oh well been called worst. Justice put it this way if KBR farts then the world is on there ass. If Dyncorp or Fluor or any of these other corporations shits in the street then the response is oh we must clean this up i bet KBR was in the porta can and that is why they shit in the street. You can roast KBR all you want and yes i am a warm body and probably i could come home in a box, with whatever company i work with but if it is Fluor or dyncorp well i guess i am just learning. Anyway to end this post i will just say in the end when the shit hits the fan and military wants something quick they will come calling because they know one way or another we will get the job done it may cost them out the ass but it will get done. Have a good night folks i will be on hiatus for a few weeks so roast away unless i need to comment i will other wise i will let those who get a lead run with it until it blows up in there face.

This guy wanted a pat on the back for doing 9 months in Saudi. 9 months is nothing when you have free access to everything with almost no restrictions except to Saudi women. This guy is lightweight and has nothing coming to him except some time from the judge in a cell for being a drunken ass.

I’ve been getting a lot of Google search hits for Robert Wade Prince in the last few days. Does anyone know if there is something going on with his charges? If there is anyone out there who can update us please do.

Prince got 6 months in jail and a $10,000 fine. The justice system works.

Here’s an interesting article with a lot of testimony from the air marshals and flight attendants.
