I know that a company must sponsor you for a CAC Card and only U.S. citizens with U.S. passports are elgible for the privileges that are associated with whats on your LOA. I know of a few foreign nationals that work for CSA that receive and/or send mail through the U.S. postal services on military bases because they have permanent residency in the U.S. I can name names if needed but wont post the names on this website.

I kept mine, "F" them. It's a souvenir in my eyes, and I'm retired from the military also.

I told them I turned it in at the BIAP when I left in 2006.

Screw KBR

Well done. Did they send an email to a CAC Recovery team member and did he CC you? Keep a copy of the email. I would also request a confirmation email from the person at KBR you have been dealing with.

I surrendered my CAC card yesterday (date it expired) to the Air Force. The SSgt. sent KBR an email informing them that it had been retrieved and destroyed by them.
This to me was the safest way to return it, as mailing it could possibly pose some un-intended risks.

After responding to the email I received a pleasant response from a member of the CAC Recovery Team stating:

Thank you for your response Debbie, I will document your file.

So you’re the infamous Ms. Sparky?

Just another way for KBR to make money . . you send in your CAC card (expired or not) because they didn't collect it (and we know that KBR won't sign for it) and they collect reward money for recovering a "lost" CAC card. Just what you need on your record if you want to work for any other overseas company, you can't hang on to your ID cards. Besides the fact that all of your personal information, emergency contact information, etc is on the magnetic strip and you have now given it back to KBR. Just shows that their record keeping is still up to par (NOT!!)

One of the biggest issues with the report is that KBR was issuing Common Access Cards to Foreign Nationals with no background checks at all. Keep in mind...this CAC will get you on to just about any US Base in the world.

No offense to these nationalities, but what would a Bosnian, Croatian, Brit or Canadian working as a subcontract worker in Iraq for KBR need with a CAC that can get them on to virtually any US Base in the world. These CAC's were not collected when people went home on R&R. Only when they demob'd. (supposedly)

KBR was just issuing them to Foreign Nationals without proper vetting!!

I would make them sign for it. But...you need to get it turned in. If you have a military base close by they should have a CAC office. You should be able to turn it in there.

I received the same email - and I was told by a local military bases (badging office) that they weren't aware of this requirement and they also stated that it not be mailed in as it might end up in the wrong hands, simply take it to the base and turn it in there. I will do that very soon. The military base pulled up my card in their system and knows when it expires.

The good news is that KBR has figured out yet another way to profit from their own mistakes.
