I have been following this story from the beginning. I’m glad to see the family getting this media coverage. Why isn’t CNN or FOX covering this? I am really developing a distaste for mainstream media. Also, I was under the impression that you were blogging about this this death the day ofter it happened. Wouldn’t that mean you broke the story?
Keep doing what you do. Thanks
Ms Sparky’s Response:
CNN has been notified. I am not sure why they are not running the story. Combine what we already know with the personal experiences of Jim Childs with Task Force SAFE and the personal stories of Jesse and Patricia Hermanson and that makes a very compelling story. That is just a big I DON’T KNOW! As far as “did I break the story”? I was notified on the 2nd that there had been an electrocution in a shower and I blogged about it then asking for more information. I contacted the Senate DPC and others to give them a heads up. The family contacted me on the 7th. I got them in touch with Kim Hefling with the Associated Press. Her article broke on the 8th. The article in The Nation by Jeremy Scahill broke on the 9th. So the answer is no, I did not break the story. Kim Hefling from Associated Press did. But, as long as the family is getting good publicity, it’s all good.
The opening pictures used in this video were of my son, SGT. Stephen Z. Madison and his wife in his hospital room at Brook’s Army Medical Hospital, San Antonio, TX. How this reporter got those pics to use in his report I don’t know yet, but I have always questioned the cause of Stephen’s injuries. We were told that he got scalded by hot water in the shower while stationed in Iraq, 2004. From what we gathered by his buddies(nothing from the Army mind you),that the water suddenly turned scalding and Stephen passed out, falling down, while the scalding water was still running over him. Thank God his friends found him quickly!! He received 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his upper body, arms and legs and we thought he was on the road to some kind of recovery.
Unfortunately Stephen died 9 months later when he switched pain medicines to methadone and died from toxicity 3 days later. Ms Sparky posted a link previously to the 3 part series our local columnist, Will Doolittle wrote about Stephen’s accident and death this past spring. I thank Debbie for all the effort she puts into finding justice and accountability from our gov. and the businesses that they contract with.
Keep the pressure on!!!
Ms Sparky’s Response:
I was stunned when I saw Stephen’s photos. Stephen was not electrocuted so I was at a loss of why Democracy Now would use them except for the shock value. I’m sorry. I’m sure that was painful.
