Will the DoD assist Fluor and Dyncorp?

FacebookStumbleUponRedditDiggLinkedInShare

Now that KBR has lost LOCAP IV in Kuwait and Afghanistan…..what is the DoD’s agenda?

Do you plan to hold KBR in a contingency position  in the event Fluor or Dyncorp flounder and fail at their new contracts?

I suppose this is not an unreasonable strategic plan. But I have to ask, are you going to afford Fluor and Dyncorp the same courtesies you afforded KBR when they were awarded the LOGCAP III contract? Those courtesies being little to no DoD oversight or accountability on KBR’s part. Yes this did lead to a poor quality product but it did allow KBR to pocket billions of US tax dollars therefore being quite financially successful.

Are you going to do anything to assist Fluor and Dyncorp in succeeding in cleaning up after KBR. Or are they just going to be on their own dealing with the mess KBR created while they deal with the heightened levels of DoD oversight being demanded by Congress, something that KBR rarely faced until recently.

The DoD seemed to just turn a blind eye until The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform chaired by Representative Waxman on  July 31,  2008 just shamed the DoDIG, the DCMA, and KBR about electrical work. How humiliating for them all. It seems things have started to change since then.

The DoD has been pressured by lawmakers to put a stop to KBR’s rampant reign of fraud, waste and abuse. So they have had to make a showing in Kuwait and Afghanistan by not awarding any LOGCAP IV task orders to KBR.

If KBR is so incompetent that the DoD has totally cut them out of Kuwait and Afghanistan why hold them in contingency? Is there some little vindictive voice somewhere that hopes Fluor and/or Dyncorp fail so that your beloved KBR can jump in and save the day? Then you can go back to the lawmakers and say “See we told you KBR was the only ones who could do it!”

Not too much has changed in the DoD since President Obama took office. It still looks like Bush’s DoD for the most part and there have been a whole lot of military egos that have been bruised recently. I hope Fluor and Dyncorp are expecting this.

Now, lets just wait and see what happens.

Ms Sparky you may very well be on to something. There are MANY MANY bruised egos or should I say bruised stars in the DOD. I’m sure there is some part that would delight in seeing the failure of Fluor or Dyncorp. And seeing KBR ride in on their white horse to save the day. I’m sure there would be no small amount of vindication in that.

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
The DoD has gotten to be more political that military. Plus they have gone so long with free rein I there a lot of them so arrogant they feel the end justifies the means. And I am talking Generals and the like.

They will change tones overnight. KBR could not get anything right because it was a war zone while the others will have to get everything fixed right away because now it is a sustainment project. I wonder what time exactly the war ends and sustainment begins? Likely about the time the contracts are signed over.

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
    Good Point!

Yes there are in a mode to be able to jump back in and help or clean up the mess Fluor and Dyncorp made. They both underbid the contract and do not realize the magintude of what they took on. Now they will go back to government and ask for more funding because they grossley under bid the contract and yes the government will be screwed yet again.

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
JC-They didn’t underbid KBR. The article states KBR was not awarded the contract primarily based on past performance. I was told that in Kuwait KBR was the lowest bidder, but the bid was not believable.

Your source was wrong, they bid to provide services for 50 buildings but actually it was 500 buildings. Plus instead of Dyncorp direct depositing there paycheck they mail the checks to there homes. Now this the age of direct deposite or if you get a paycheck at all. Alot of those who jumped ship wished they had taken a job in Iraq. I am not disputing your source i am just saying my sources are really squawking and that is why the Govt has KBR on standby to come back to assume the duties. A level 4 CAR normally will cash in your contract but for some reason Dyncorp is still there and now they have bit off a big piece of Afghanistan. This is going to be a very interesting chapter in the DOD contracting. i am sure you will have a field day with them as well.

Ksniper777 #1 I work in Kuwait and my check is direct deposited so where you get that info is wrong. All you do is cause disturbances with your overbearing attitude. Get your facts right before you go flapping your fingers

I don’t think they will. I think the DoD would let our soldiers suffer in order to let Fluor and Dyncorp lose, let KBR come back and be able to say I told you so. It’s all political.

This comment was sent to me from a Yahoo Group thread. I have been hearing this over and over from Afghan to Iraq to Kuwait. I hope the DoD and Fluor and Dyncorp are paying attention. KBR is not going to go quietly. This almost looks like sabotage to me!

    KBR Transition to Fluor /Dyncorp

The word at Bagram is that KBR is going to try to demoab the best of their employees (so the other 2 companies don’t get them) before the end of the transition. Right now it is very tense not knowing from 1 day to the next if they will be pulled off the job and told to pack up as their going home. The rumors are flying!! If anyone has any info regarding the transition please post it. I called Fluor Headquarters in TX and asked about the transition and they said to apply for position wanted, even if it isn’t posted yet. All resumes will be gone over for LogCap IV. My Husband was told by a higher up that the KBR employees transitioned over to Fluor will fly to either Dubai or Kuwait for in processing to the new company. There is still alot of job orders that KBR has to do, to finish LogCap III before they are totally gone for there. The other companies will not be doing them as KBR still holds the LogCap III contracts and they can’t be passed on to any other company.

Heard at TQ that we are expeting another mass layoff in Sep that may be brought forward to Aug instead. Seems they are lost either way though, being sent home from here will make things harder and those who are left will certainly have an easier time getting hired but will it make a massive difference in chances if you are home or here when the changes occur?

I am not coming back again so I am sending in documented evidence to the other companies on those who have failed to do the right thing here, if they are hired then Flur and Dyncorp hir them with full proof of who they are taking on and have no recourse to say they were unaware of the employees past. Perhaps we could all begin sending our evidence in and possibly culling the scum whether they are left in country or left out on the line at home.

Yes, KBR will not assist anyone except out the door. I expect them to do the same as in the Balkans will they protest the contract awards.

Balkanman, I say this to you. You worked for a US company. You should have spent more time learning english (US/UK) instead of speaking your language on the phones or radios. Then you would have understood the contract language. No one made you sign the paper. You also have the choce to go back home at anytime. As to your pay, it was always way too high a salary. At one time you were geting 20 times your salary what you would earn back home. How many times the yearly salary were US and UK workers getting, perhaps 2.5. You people built very nice houses and started businesses with the money you made before. The money matrix is more fair now.
