We are running into the same thing in the private side with Fluor. We were a very large contractor for these guys during Katrina and saw rampant abuse of the system. We were recently asked to supply people for them in South Africa and they stole said people away without compensation. It is time to open the lid. I have held my tongue for quite a while, if you wish to understand the internal workings of Fluor post a comment and I will reply. I am infinitely familiar with them in Iraq as well as Louisiana. Game on!

They have a much unknown history in the area of handling employees that report fraud, waste and abuse. There were many cases reported during the Hurricane Katrina work in 2005 and 2006, and several in regard to the Iraq work in 2004 – 2007 all of which stopped at the respective program manager’s desk. People were making good money and knew they would be gone if they pushed the issue.

Some reports did get to the CO’s, DCMA, etc. but who did they deal with? the program manager’s of course. The reports were dismissed as acts of disgruntled employees and the cozy in bed together relationship continued. Why? because those military and civil servants wanted a job when they retired, and all too many got them.

I'd contact the DoDIG, Commission on Wartime Contracting and your Congressperson. If a crime has been committed contact the CID or NCIS. If you need help I would also contact the media. Email me some specific info and I can do a post on it as well.

LookingforlogcapIV,

There are good companies out there to work for......

Just track the once that show up here alot....but here are other companies that I think are not to bad to work for.....

Northrope and Grumman
General Dynamics
Lockheed Martin
Logic one
Raytheon
Boeing (if they are still in Kuwait)
SCIC (I have not heard too much complaint about this company, so I think they are okay to work for)
CAV (they don't pay much, but I have not heard any problem with them)

Companies to watch out for:

KBR
CSA
ITT
VSE
L-3 Communication Vertex

Companies that have mix reviews

Dyncorp (mix reviews, because some operations seems to be okay, but it seems they are having problem in Afghanistan, pay issues and living quarters and TCNs and FN workers)

Flour (also a mix reviews) some projects are okay and they are also having some problems in Afghanistan, mainly about the "foreign national" bieng their prefference of hire, over Americans; due to "cost plus budget"

Hope this helps you out......TC

KBR and KRB is not the same, but I can help decipher that for you...

KBR is a company that has mastered (rape) to the "T"

KRB: is an "acronym" for Kept Raping B_tch_s.....but I never got "in trouble for it"

If you have further questions, please contact Ms. Browne, with KBR.

dz,

My guess is, Mr. Webb is probably running a "whore house" or owns a strip club in thailand and funneling all of his "rapist" clients to take advantage of "minors" 15 to 16 years of age to "perform" the "soapy dance"

I can't imagine that a man who runs that type of "operation for years" and not be affected or being part of all that "scandal" and stay as a "saint" is almost unbelievable......

I am wondering why "he choose Thailand" as a place to retire.......hmmmmmmm

Thailand is known as a "Sex Capital" of the "World" to many Americans and Europeans and all the "old sick bastards, go there to find them a young girl" so they can feel good about themselves and they get to do all that nasty stuff, that American women wouldn't do for them.....

Just like if I wanted to buy drugs or sell drugs "I would retire in Columbia" catch my drift there dz........

go figure........

I went to school with a Robert Webb, and he was a KBR site manager for several years but just retired to Thailand. I wonder if the above mentioned Webb is the same. Anyone? If he is the same one, I would be interested in reading more about what KRB employees thought about him.

I've reported several fraud situations to the DOD IG. They never got back to me. I don't know what happened. Never saw anything at camp. Very poor communications. I probably wouldn't report anything again.

Just go to the MWR and make your report. Fluor is just trying to save a buck to provide only business email. They don't want to pay for bandwidth use that is what i was told by another Fluor employee. Funny thing is they won't allow them to have private internet either. Not sure how much truth that is but that is what i was told.

True that, Legal office is within walking distance and they are nice folks but when we had a FN ex-pat threatened by the camp manager, Robert Webb, and he went to report it, he was told to return and report it to KBR Security, they were not wanting to have any dealng with it at all.

I have been there over my time here and have not had any issues but they have limits to what they will or can get involved in and that may be an issue if they are not getting involved without KBR first being notified.

If Fluor are foolish enough to cancel the legally gauranteed right to contact your elected officials and law enforcement through their servers I think there is nothing that can be one but for everyone with any issues to first go to the Legal Office and don't forget, you can writ everything in a note and post it to the on base office and it will get there right from the post office with nobody knowing aything about what you are sending or to whom as well as providing written proof of contact with them.

I don't care who it is, anyone endangering the troops and trying to hid it deserves no trial, just jail and ruin.

If one is concerned about being seen going to the NCIS, or any other legal authority (KBR Security doesn't count :)), you have to shop from -time-to-time @THE PX, go when the bus drops you off, for instance the big PX @T.Q., NCIS is right down the walk-way, they won't bite, friendly sort of folks :)!
Wish I were still there with all my friends. Injury won't allow me to return. :( .
GOD, protect all the military and civilians helping keep us free through-out the world.

Ms Sparky's Response:
I second that. Sorry you were injured. Thanks for the specific Camp TQ info!!

lookingforlogcapIV, there are many sites out there who will talk great things about the companies but many more will tell you the things that you need to be aware of and the things that are most likely going to happen to or around you if you are over here. Forewarned is forearmed as they say.

I would wait until the dust settles but even then I would hold onto what you have and keep plugging away with what you have instead of risking a decent job to come and work in a place that is only going to get more paranoid over the coming months as they try to make sure nobody ges to report them for the things they are likely going to continue to do wrong. The people who are here now and doing things improperly are likely to go to the other companies and keep the buddy system going which means a lot of heartache for those who want to do some good and a lot of opportunities for those who want to make money for nothing or worse, for doing the wrong thing. You will find both types if you come over but I would strongly suggest hanging in there.

Most of Iraq is safer now and it is in Afghansitan that things are getting hot again but each site has its own risks and dangers that will have to be researched and evaluated before making a decision. I wish you well whatever you choose.

Ms Sparky and readers,
I have been investigating on your site if I should make the move to the contract world again after a 2 year absense from the "evil empire" of KBR. I have an opportunity to work for ITT in Astan and I am just waiting for the KBR bidding protest to go away. Anyway I am presently a federal employee working for the Dept of the Navy, and have a secure federal civil service job. I just want to provide better for family and self and want to be treated with dignity and respect because little things do mean a whole lot when you are away from family and loved ones for extended periods under difficult conditions. I am reading all these comments (mostly all negative) about Fluor, KBR, CSA...etc. I know that their are good companies out their to work for contracting, companies that actually want you to stick around and treat you as part of a company family! Anyway, what draws so many people to contracting if their are so many negatives here. I still want to make the move to contract work, but I am just trying to get things straight in my mind why I risk so much for leaving my job. Can anyone offer me input into why they are interested in contracting if you have to constantly be on your toes for people who want to take you out under any and all circumstances? That is Taliban, Al Qeida and the company you are working for!

I believe Federal law prohibits them from preventing you from being able to contact legal services and elected representitives.

Keystroke loggers are easy to install though I believe they are still considered illegal on a military base unless, it is the military installing them and watching the results, logging the IP addresses may also be infringing on the law no matter what you sign up for, almost like saying you will not sue a mugger if they hit you in a store, it is still illegal.

If anyone wants private satellite dishes just post a want ad, we hae dozens here at TQ that everyone is trying to get rid of and go where you want and are legally allowed to
