No LOGCAP IV in Iraq?

I have just been slammed with LOGCAP IV questions. So I am going to see if I can get some info out there that will help answer some of those questions. Keep in mind, this information is unofficial. But…this is what I am being told from some VERY reliable sources.

First, I am told that LOGCAP IV is not going to be implemented in Iraq. They will extend the current task orders until the majority of the bases are closed. I don’t know how long this will take. But I am going to estimate a year…. maybe. There is no way that KBR will be able to absorb ALL their expats into other countries. So in the meantime KBR will be firing and sending people home for stupid reasons just to reduce manpower. If you are an American expat you had better be saving your money.

LOGCAP IV will be comprised of Kuwait, Afghanistan and Africa.

I was told that KBR WILL NOT get a piece of the LOGCAP IV pie if they can not get this electrical issue under control.

I was told that KBR lost Kuwait primarily because they underbid it so much that their bid was not believable. Rumor has it they are going to rebid it.

I was also told that KBR is bidding LOGCAP IV with 30% less expats and more subcontract workers. I think it’s about a 1 to 3 ratio.

If you are being told something else…by all means let me know. Does anyone know if  KBR has transitioned to ANY LOGCAP IV contract? Does anyone know if LOGCAP IV has been implemented anywhere in Iraq? I know Dyncorp has LOGCAP IV in Kuwait and has LOGCAP IV in Afghanistan. Anyone else?

I was in iraq got rifed in june applied to all companys listed.just got contacted by my recruiter to go back to iraq as of this am kbr has long listing in skilled trades whats up with that?

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
I have been wondering the same thing, I have heard rumors that KBR’s contract has been extended but for how long and why? Word on the street is that KBR is telling their employees the extension is because both DynCorp and Fluor are “overwhelmed.” I would love to know the real story on this.

They did get an extension and the level 3 car was closed just recently and you may be correct Dyncorp and Fluor bit off more than what they can chew and are failing the grade. i am surprised Ms Sparky you did not mention the level 3 car was closed.

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
I just got back from and Alaskan Cruise and just found out about it yesterday. I had planned on blogging about it today.

My friend worked for KBR in Kuwait 2003-2004 and recently applied for all of the driver/operator positions they had listed. He was contacted by a recruiter within 2 days and was hired to go over to Iraq for at least 1 yr. He received all of the paperwork which stated LOGCAP III not IV. He failed some stupid WABI test and had already put in his notice at his work since the recruiter didn’t tell him that he didn’t actually have the job if he failed!!! Now he is unemployed and screwed over!!! He has applied for SEVERAL jobs with ITT and Dyncorp but has not heard anything from either!! Flour didn’t have any driver positions so he hasn’t applied there but did post his resume just in case.
From what everyone is saying I guess I should tell him not to hold his breath for any of the companies to contact him??!!!!

If he can’t pass the WABI test he probably shouldn’t come over here. He probably couldn’t get the new CAC either, so it wouldn’t have mattered.

That friend of yours should have taken the advice and not quit his job or made any rash decisions until he was ready to go wheels up. That’s one of the first things the recruiters tell you.

My friend was not told that the job wasn’t a sure thing and that he HAD to pass the test to get the job – he would’ve NEVER quit his job if he knew that!!!! The recruiter thought that there was something with the test because my friend wasn’t the only one that called about failing it!!! After looking online there are A LOT of people that fail this test!! He was out there before and did just fine without taking the test before!!! Another employee that my friend talked to said that the Recruiter should have explained all of this to my friend. Everyone seemed to be genuinely sorry about the missed opportunity but there is nothing they can do.

KBR had stopped issuing the WABI test because people couldn’t pass it when they needed bodies back in 04-05. Then it was back in 07. I would of never known by some of the crap I heard going in HR.

When I went through in October they were still issuing it to most people. At the time electricians were high priority, so we didn’t need to take it.

I was employed by KBR for about 6 months before i quit. I spent many years in the military, not to come back to another company that thought they were military and are not. They fail to understand that they are the contractor and the military is in charge. Well i left because of the treatment, they absolutely have no respect for their workers. And as many have said they care more about their FN’s than their own people. So I’m supposed to head to kuwait with CSA, so if anyone is looking, they are hiring.

My husband just returned from Afghanistan where he has been for 1 year. He is a sparky working for KBR. He is leaving Friday to go back. His base has not yet been taken over by Fluor, so he will continue to work for KBR. He was told that Fluor may not be at his base until early spring.

I am trying to get to afghanistan to work. I have been there in 04-05 for KBR. Does anyone know if they are hiring. I have applied for my max at fluor but can’t get anyone to call or even accept a call from me. I tried dyncorp but they are on a hiring freeze.

      CHICK says:

Dale, for Fluor make sure you hit up on Tuesdays: http://www.workatfluor.com there will be a virtual recruiter. Have your candidate number (they sent to you via email) and log on. Wait for the chat to begin. Tell them your number, what job your interested in. Then maybe the virtual recruiter will hook you up to the recruiter for your field. That’s what worked for me. Good luck on getting a call back though. I was told, “we call you back”. But it was better than what I did get before.

For clarification Dyncorp & Fluor share the Logcap IV work in Afghanistan.Fluor the northern portion Dyncorp the southern.Dyncorp is not under a hiring freeze but is currently hiring for mission critical positions only while transitioning KBR employees to there payroll. The Logcap IV work award for Iraq has not been released but is projected for early March but this is a huge complex government contract so no guarentee on timeframe.Meantime KBR will continue to work on the Iraq contract which includes recruiting.

ThaTruth-current recruiter for one of these three companys. Former recruiter for KBR with several of my former colleges at the other.New title Trasition Team Recruiter headed over soon.

I was in Iraq for 10 months before getting sent home (Reduction in Force) along with s great many others theatre wide. Are most of these jobs on the Fluor website going to KBR employees that are still in Iraq? I am going to continue my vigil regardless, but was curious what the buzz was. I did go online for the virtual recruiter thing and was told they would forward my information to the appropriate department, so we’ll see.

I wasn’t overly impressed with KBR, so I guess the fact that they have been, more or less, left out of Afghanistan is a good thing. I would imagine that everyone’s LOGCAP experience varies depending on location, their job, personnel, their background, support system, attitude, etc.

Any advise anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated, as I am just trying to support my family. I have applied with Fluor and Dyncorp and a few others.

    Thank you,

    Greg

      KBR HQ Guy says:

KBR under LCIV is currently not Afghanistan but don’t think for a moment it will stay that way. Plans are already being made to relocate a large portion of IQ workforce for quick mobilization to Astan as I write. It is going to happen sooner rather than later. No other company has the ability to move a lot of qualified folks quickly as KBR can do at this point. I wish I could say more but little thing called OPSEC….

        Ms Sparky says:

Thanks for the heads-up. I can honestly say that KBR is no longer my least favorite LOGCAP IV contractor. The level of overall stupidity and incompetence coming from Dyncorp managers in Afghanistan surpasses even KBR. I have to say I hope the Army takes LOGCAP IV away from them and awards it to KBR. You can not believe how painful for me to say that!! But it’s true.

My husband applied for several drivers positions with KBR in December… He went ahead and got the passport, Drivers report, and Dental released. He had got the email address from one of the recruters from a friend in IRAQ so he scanned and emailed the stuff to them. Once he did that they contacted him and have now sent him the hiring packet and he is scheduled to take the WABI test tomorrow. He is scheduled to leave March 1st. So I quess they are hiring.

I have been looking online for electrical work over in either Afghanistan or Iraq for the last couple of months and have posted my resume to KBR, Fluor and dyn-corp. I have also been following the comments on this site. My question is, does anyone know if any of these companies are hiring English electricians and if so is there a UK agency/recruiter I could use.

    Thanks
