BREAKING NEWS: County votes down

Posted on April 7, 2009 at 9:06 am

STAFF REPORT

The Hays County Commissioners Court voted to cancel its contract with Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) during its April 7 meeting.

Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Ingalsbe (D-) brought forth the motion, which was approved unanimously by the rest of the court. KBR was being considered to work on the FM 110 project.  (Click HERE to read the original article)

Update 04/07/2009 @ 5:09pm

Click HERE for another article that just came out in the San Marcos Mercury. One Iraq Veteran quoted as telling KBR “Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.” Hmmm. I wonder what he means by that? LOL

Again Kudos to the Hays County Commissioners.

I’m a stockholder of KBR. I have been a long time resident of State of Texas. Remembering the Old time before Kellogg brought Brown & Root, built the Rice Stadium on the cost plus basis. There were so many contracts awarded from city and county governments on the no bid basis. If you wanted your project finish on time and reasonable at that time, Brown & Root enjoyed such a reputation.

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
I think those days are long gone. You’re brave to leave a comment so I won’t give you too much grief. KBR has lost 60% of their stock value since June 2008. I’m sure most will blame it on the market “correction” but I would like to think that people are voicing their disapproval with their dollar.

WTFEW: I remember finding some people at the camp I was at that had also worked for Brown and Root before Kellogg and Halliburton got involved, and they had nothing but good things to say about Brown and Root. Sad to see what “profiteering” will do to a good name.

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
I’m not against “for profit” companies. I’m a capitalist all the way. I am against not providing the product contracted. Whether it be in a war zone or in the States. And if people die or are injured because of that….that really makes me mad!
