I am both, a combat wounded veteran and now a contractor. If I get injured while over hear I become medically unfit and they send me home, yea you may get a few weeks pay, based on a salary around that of an E-5, after that nothing. Please don’t patronize us with not getting paid if hurt while on active duty.

I would like to see a report of all of the workman’s comp claims paid to KBR employees. I know for a fact that some employees have FALSELY claimed injuries that did not occur and paid massive amounts of money. There is no oversight. The soldiers that are actually injured in combat get nowhere near the amount of money that is FALSELY paid to these claims. Then our government reimburses KBR, which means ultimately we are ALL paying for these false claims.

Terminally yours, you might want to start getting the chatter going on the TCN workers they have employed. Some companies are actually looking at their liabilities and up-channeling it to your legal departments so they don’t get caught short, if the Iraq situation transpires in Afghanistan like Iraq); The Afghan MOI has already stated their intent is to knock of the Nepalese and Filipino from the country and it’s just a matter of time for some others. Up-channel the info to your Flour Hotline (see 20 days to get out of Iraq) postings. Because your right, Flour is hiring less US at a slightly higher salary and they make up the difference by hiring more TCNs/Bosnians. Put the screws to them. Once someone in managment at a Senior level has been made aware of the chance they are partaking in illegal activities they are bound by the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and can be held liable. Actually, if someone had all the POCs for Afghan comanies in Afghan and you make them aware they are employing personnel involved with illegal activites they are bound to take action (or not) but they have no legal stance when the Gov comes knocking at their door.

That’s where you are wrong. I have already blogged about Chrom 6 at Baghram and have the reports so if there are any Fluor or KBR employees experiencing health problems and they suspect it may be from living on a toxic waste dump….have your attorneys email me and I will gladly send it to them.

Has anybody checked on Fluor’s Northern Afghanistan contract or their performance since they took over.You really should.They are hiring more non-American workers than KBR ever did.Do some research people.They pay their workers more but actually do less for the military,the very people they are supposed to be supporting.
I am a former KBR employee and not real happy with them.They built most our living quarters in Bagram over tons of chromium six.
My belief is most companies only think about the almighty dollar and none of them are to be trusted,but we all have the right to stay home and stand in employment lines hoping and praying for jobs.Ah,what to do?

Having been both military (Vietnam Era)and later a civilian in Iraq supporting our military, the former, I believe is a much better use of tax payer dollars. I was in Iraq when KBR/Halliburton came under federal investigation and immediately the “divide” within the company occurred, the culpable portion transferring headquarters to Dubai, where it could no longer be either investigated or prosecuted, it seems. I do believe a return to the draft would be much better than all the felons hired by contracting companies. Just what we needed–felons often given positions of power, and their own vehicles with no accountability providing them with ready access to guns, storage units, women… and when women were raped, they could, at best, only arbitrate and their careers were usually over, sometimes literally laughed at by supervisors for reporting sexual assault, and told not to say anything by others, denied legal access, shipped to other areas escorted like criminals in front of co-workers but nothing done to the perpetrator quite effectively encouraging aggression against females. The military, though not perfect and command structure “beliefs” varying greatly, has UCMJ and CID to counterbalance dangers from the criminal element. There were no laws to govern contractors. Also, contracting companies earn money via contract personnel numbers and back it up with work order numbers. That does not foster efficiency, since if they can “fix” more, repeatedly, versus repair or replace efficiently, they thus show on paper that they are “needed”. Military morale was frequently severely hampered through deaths of co-workers, while most of the safer “support” (vs. “outside the wire”/front line military jobs) were given to civilians at exorbitant pay. In this specific war– though I was amazed at how hospitable and genuinely respectfully the Muslims I met throughout the Middle East interacted with Americans, I did question the wisdom of our food being served by Muslims because of the looks we received from them the day Sadam Hussein was hanged. If we could have so many U.S. felons hired due to “greed”, what safeguards were there in place to not hire foreign spies who might report all they “saw” or could map out?? It was a topsy-turvey world that many of us called “Reverse World”. So much did not make any sense …. unless one learned who was gaining more wealth and power from whom. I hope with all my heart that we are indeed making a difference, a positive difference by U.S. presence there. Do the Iraqi’s have their doctor’s back? Do the Iraqi’s, such as some who worked on our posts, ones with critical medical conditions, now have medical care like they did before the war? Do the Iraqi’s have their intelligentsia (who could afford to flee with there families) back to educate the younger Iraqi generation in higher learning institutions? I don’t know. I am not there now. We were beginning to supply schools with computers… For that matter, do our own contractors have adequate medical care when they return with Middle Eastern regional protozoans, necrosing spider bites, intermittent fevers, uncontrollable coughing, minor brain injuries resulting in major memory problems, PTSD (especially for women returning with sexual assaults added to normal war zone stressors). The price of war has many ramifications and this war our grandchildren will be paying for with money we currently do not have but is, if I understand correctly, printed by a non-federal agency with added interest charges. If we re-instituted the draft, the war would cost considerably less and “We The People” would determine if the war, injuries, and loss of life is truly necessary for the benefit of our nation and our citizens. Our constitutionally protected citizens in our wonderful nation have the major responsibility to decide what we need as a people and what we should do as a nation. that is our unique form of government–we govern ourselves. No other nation on earth is like this. We are citizens, not subjects. We will not be enslaved by man unless we give up our responsibility to be ever-vigilant, and actively protective of our citizen decisions and our constitution. It is the government, our elected officials duty, to carry out citizen decisions.

I was in the southern theater also, and I don’t ever remember the military saying anything nice about any of the KBR personnel I worked with. Most of the time we were called mercenaries and money grubbers, and we didn’t have the right to the same “comforts” as the military, i.e. the DFAC’s, the showers, the hooches, the MWR’s, etc.

Where do you come off with saying that KBR “controls Human Trafficking” . . the American Tax Dollars that are paying for KBR’s LOGCAP contract are being used to increase human trafficking… expats are being replaced by SCW’s/TCN’s/FN’s (whatever the politically correct term is these days for slavery). That money is going directly to third world countries.

As far as watching the news . .every media station out there will spin the story to get ratings . . doesn’t matter how twisted the facts get as long as the station gets the ratings. Have you tried turning the volume off and just watching the background photos . . hhmmmm same pics day in and day out, so how accurate are the reports?? Yes Iran is a threat, yes Iraq had a tyranical leader and a very suppressed poor population, and due to that had many “terrorist training camps/hideouts”, which the military is still finding and putting out of business, but yet they still keep popping up . . money coming in from Syria, weapons coming in from Iran. Yes, there are tribal battles in Iraq that have been going on for literally thousands of years, but that seems to be part and parcel of the culture over there. Does anyone remember the reports that the money to fund Bin Laden came from Iraq?? Story didn’t stay out there for long did it??

KBR’s Kill’em, Bag’em, Replace’em attitude seems to have filtered over the client side of the contract. There is no reason for the shoddy work that is being done over there . . there are qualified people in place . . but instead of working in the area of their expertise they are put into menial jobs, and unqualified personnel are put into positions that have nothing to do with their qualifications/experience.

Maybe when someone at KBR upper management realizes how to effectively communicate on a large scale and get the right people into the right positions instead of constantly pencil whipping paperwork instead of actually making sure it’s done right then things will change with the overseas contracts. But until performance takes a precendence over profit, nothing will change and all lives over there will be at risk not just from bullets, mortors, ied’s etc, but from the poor work being done.

I will always support the deployed troops wherever they are even if they don’t seem to realize that some of us volunteered to go to Iraq so that more of them could come home safely. Too many of my co-workers sacrificed all to support the military.

That’s why, in the spot-a-pots outside the DFAC’s at Camp Victory, scrawled on every wall is “KBR are soldier killers” and “KBR killed my brothers”.

We spent so much testing and doing paperwork to reaffirm the shoddy local product that it interfered with the mission. Going back once, twice, three times to make sure the DPM’s ass was covered was more than a hindrance to those of us doing the work and to those of us we were doing the work for.

I was over there for three years thank you and my check was Directly deposited yes, and my brothers are over there after serving in the Army. Reality check is that this administration will never take the credit…but it will take years before we all see the full picture. We need Iraq in order to protect us and others from Iran dont ya know.

People are just jealous when they put down KBR workers. Because you will find the same things going on all over the US. No, I have not lost my mind.

Tell me this…if all of our soldiers would have pulled out of Iraq and the terrerists took it back over before the Iraqui’s were in power…tell me this….what would we do to stop Iraq do you think???

Not only that….the soldiers over LOVE the KBR workers. KBR Caters to them, laundry, food service, repairs, Quality and controls Human Trafficking, provides the Ice and clean Water to the military. They do everything for the Military, I know I lived it. And as far as living, you live in a hooch or a tent and you work work work so you make the money you need to but you sacrifice years to do it…and what is wrong with that? Withour KBR they would have needed many more soldiers. And how would Iraq have gotten rebuilt?

Wow, just wow!!! K A needs a reality check and fast!!! Maybe she should read most of your posts before commenting? I admit there have been ‘some’ improvements in Iraq, but not near what they should be for all the money that has been thrown into that country. I for one was always on ‘full alert/head on a swivel’ when transiting in & out of the BIAP. And how many times were we told not to approach the locals there or to got to the restrooms in groups (men & women)? So much for ‘a safe and free country’.

Also, the new administration will most likely try to take all the credit away from the old administration. They are the ones who made a peaceful Iraq. They are the ones who made a difference and rebuilt Iraq and they are the ones who were starting the completion for the withdrawing of troops…so do not let anyone fool you. This new adminstation is only doing what the old one had planned. Give credit where credit is due. Obama your mama….hates America…and I am a Democrat but smart enough to give Pres Bush the credit he is due. In years to come he…and only he will go down in history for going after the terrorist and stomping them into the groung and making Iraq a free place. Not Obama…President Bush.

I just wander on Sept 11th if he would have told us he was not going to do anything how many of you would have said he should have gone after them?

Also, KBR….stop being jealous of others and what they make, they are working side by side with our troops and you talk about people not qulaified…look at American employees….many of them are not qualified to do their jobs or there would not be lawsuits…wake up and stop complaining.

It had to do with Bin Laden and the Taliban in Afghanistan! If you had been reading my blog you would know that we have been fighting diligently to increase the licensing requirements primarily for electricians and therefore get them more money. I feel that MOST KBR craft are underpaid. I also feel that MOST KBR managers are overpaid!

My husband has been working for KBR for three years in Iraq now. You people have no udea what you are talking about. He pays US taxes. He ALSO works 120 days straight 12 hours a day….so if you were to give overtime after 40 hours jhere in the U it would not be very different. He is in Southern Iraq and none of you know the difference they are making. Also the Iraqui’s are doing great now….so before you go blaming others, accusing KBR etc… you need to talk to these guys who are over there and yes my husband was US Army for 8 years proir to his KBR employment. The truth is so twisted in the media.

Most of the people who comment on my blog are working for KBR or have worked for KBR including me. And your husband and KBR have only paid SS and medicare taxes since July 2008. Federal Income Taxes laws have always applied. No one has ever said differently. YOu don’t think he deserves hazard on his last 44 hours? You don’t think he deserved overtime on his last 44 hours? Interesting. And the Iraqi’s are not doing great. Unemployment is at a historic high. Suicide bombers are still targeting innocent civilians. Their country is decimated and contaminated with depleted uranium from US and coalition weapons. Yes, things have changed within KBR since the hearings in July 2008 and there are some good people over there. But the media doesn’t have it twisted. They for nearly the first time are spot on. It’s very easy for people to sit at home with their direct deposit and tell everyone else how it is in Iraq!

i work for kbr at d-ll (hammer)i’m not going to say what dept but kbr is still not metting codes on electrical work only time you see them trying to fix things is when the safe team comes or any body to inspect things also can you tell me how we have a whole possy of people that all live around each other back in the states are all in charge of things over here and not all have qulifacations to do what they do.i just got out of the military after 10 years of service and decide to come make some money to help my family out more..in jan of 2009 dod put out a 2.9% raise i sure as hell didn’t see it and nobody else so what happen to the money..i realy think after obama pulls the troops out and they have time to sit and look at kbr’s paper work alot of people will be going to jail..and they still hire people that are unskilled what what they are doing for x-sample your fuel operators get payed as unskilled labor so all your tracking and stuff and monitoring of the fuel they don’t get payed for what they know they get payed the same as people working in mwr were they just hand out towels and scedule ping pong, games but not really accountable for anything.. i’m just feed up with what i see and as soon as i’m able to jump ship i will..
oh another thing promotions are done still by who you know not what you know…

I worked for LsI at Al Asad Iraq and I am glad I made it home alive, I wanted to take a bottle of water home with me and have it tested as I had nothing but stomach problems the whole time I was there, All over the place is unsafe Kbr wiring, water leaking on lights exposed wires etc. the only way to get anything fixed was to tell them you got shocked then 10 people showed up, I am going to Afghanistan and I told my new employer if Kbr has anything to do with travel or houseing I do not want the job, Lsi is another company that only pays uplift on the first 40 hours worked so the other 40 a week I work is safe???
12 hours a day 7 days a week, that will not happen again.
