I will be interested to hear what the Criminal Investigations Command (CID) determined to be the contributing factors of SSG Ryan Maseth’s death!

  2. KBR Supervisor says:

Now KBR has a strict policy on holding people accountable for there actions especially with safety I spent 4 months At FOB ASHRAF where myself and the electrician went through another refugee camp fixed all the electric and HVAC units the electrician made sure everything was properly grounded at Anaconda WHERE I WORK the electric and power gen departments go the extra mile and make sure everything is properly fixed we also have an element called QA there job is to inspect every thing from electric plumbing or HVAC we here about if we miss something we take pride in SAFETY I have zero injuries in my shop and I make sure my equipment is safe and secure rest assured if there are any KBR personnel found guilty they will be terminated we do not tolerate negligence or incompetence.

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
I am thrilled that you take pride in your safety record!! There needs to be more like you. But…I am telling you that this is relatively new. And I swear if I hear that Heather Brown say “Unwavering commitment to safety” one more time I will scream. I still get emails from people who are still being sent home for bringing up safety issues. KBR is only changing because they are being forced to. If there had been no Senate or Congressional Hearings the electrical issues would be the same and people would still be dying. KBR (corporate) is not doing anything because it is the right thing to do. They are doing it because they are being forced to do it. They are doing it because of the Level III CAR and they are doing it because not doing it very well could cost them $$$.

The only problem with kbr’s Quality Assurance program is they put employee’s in there who has no experience, don’t know what ISO stands for and forget about being 9001 or 9002 compliant. In order to properly inspect a process, one must first be qualified for the job. Take for example, HVAC foremen and hvac one at tikrit, none have a Universal certification which is KBR’s own requirement and the QA that is surposed to inspect the hvac work, all they had ever done was install duct work for some outfit at $10 an hour.
I am not saying this is the way it is with every department on all the FOB’s and COB’s, just the way it was and is at Speicher. If one is not certified for the job, how can it be said it is done safely? It is all about the $$$ and knowing the Acronym’s used by the military, I think the military should test all trades personnel on every camp on their knowledge in their trade. Most would be on the way home…

    Ms Sparky’s Response:
Clearly MANY MANY KBR employees have ascended to positions FAR beyond their capabilities. Personally, I think the military should be testing the management!!

It’s all related to corruption. KBR is well known of favouritism, according to what I heard a lead on a project assign junior(UNEXPERIENCED)to lead a chunk of a project just because they’re from the same country. They’ve very terrible culture.

I worked for kbr for 3 years, and this is true, They promote people that are not capable of doing the job,,, When i was at anaconda, they promoted a truck driver to a safety position, and this driver had no safety experience, no osha certification which is a requirement for all safety jobs, Kbr its not what you know,, its who you know, This is what created so many problems for kbr , I was also promoted to a fuel distribution system operator, and i had absolutely no experience in fuel handling or testing,

  6. FSOP says:

I work as a fuel systems foreman and you really dont need to have any prior training to be a Fuel Systems Operator. I could show a monkey how to do the job to army standards in a week at most. Now if the site you goto just throws you in to the farm and says goto it without any training you might be in trouble. :)

It’s nice to know someone has pride!
