Did KBR Give Anyone Their Raise in Iraq and Afghanistan?
It’s past payday!! Did ANYONE get their promised raises? Plumbers, HVAC, Generator Mechanics or Electricians? Did some get it and some didn’t? People are asking from all over. Let us know what’s going on.
Also, why is it that some of the KBR recruiters are telling the Master electricians that they aren’t hiring anymore Master electricians at Master pay and some are saying they are. Also, several recruiters seem to be luring plumbers and others to Houston with promises of the higher wage and then when it comes time to sign the contract the wage is much lower.
I’ m not a lawyer. But there sure seems to be something stinkin’ going on here. People in Iraq being promised raises and not getting it. People being lured to Houston with promises of higher wages and after investing all that time, it’s much lower. Is there not a lawyer out there who wants to take a look at this for a Class Action suit. This is all KBR’s doing. They can’t blame SEII for this one.
I have a simple solution for this. GIVE THEM THE DAMN RAISE YOU TOLD THEM THEY WOULD GET!

I spoke with some friends of mine still in theatre working. One journeyman and two masters, and none of them have signed any new PAN yet. “Uppers” say it is “on the way” . . . . hmmm. . .seems like that was said two months ago huh?!
Ms Sparky’s Response:
Every day they don’t get paid is money out of their pocket!! PAY THEM!!!

KBR employees get paid 2 much as it is so quit complaining.
Sunday, October 5th 2008 at 6:34 am |
you would think that the military would step in and tell KBR to stop mistreating and abusing their people. people get pissed off and quit. good people are afraid to go to work for them or won’t stay. this has to be costing the military a lot of money. what is the point of lying to your people and jacking with them all the damn time. people deserve that money. people need that money. KBR promised it now it’s time to pony up! If there’s a Class Action suit on this. I am the first damn one in line! What a bunch of lying bastards. This really make the military look bad as well. KBR has it’s slave brokers like PPI. it looks like the military has it’s slave brokers like KBR.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
Well said! I hope there is a laws suit. As of yet…it doesn’t appear that anyone has gotten their raise in Iraq.

I have talked to a KBR recruiter about working as a electrician in iraq. I am a master electrician and a beginning electrical contractor with a state license. He wants to hire me as a journeyman and the payscale is still under logcap 3 is this right or is there something he is not telling me? I have heard in the blogs about logcap4 can anyone explain.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
What base did they offer you? I am of the opinion they are just trying to get Master Electricians for Journeyman pay. LOGCAP 4 doesn’t start until next year. Someone correct me if I am wrong. That’s when Dyncorp and Fluor take over 2/3′s of KBR’s contract.
Thursday, October 9th 2008 at 1:55 pm |
They offered me a shot at being labeled a master but he can’t guarantee it at this time he said he would send my paperwork and licenses through and see. He was saying most likely i would be in iraq at camp victory. he said with overtime working 7 12′s it would be around 10,000 at the journeymen wage–could be more if they accept me as a master.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
I haven’t heard of anyone one seeing it on their check yet. Good Luck. Go check out the thread on http://www.electriciantalk.com and look for SparkHunter. He’s a KBR recruiter.

The conversation with the recruiter is the last few pages.

I am curious. Logcap4 is a 10 year contract, 1 year with 9 optional years, but the Iraq govt wants the US out by 2011. Will the other contractor even have an opportunity to get started before it is all over? How long will any of these jobs last?
Ms Sparky’s Response:
If I’m not mistaken, LOGCAP IV is supposed to start in 2009. I doubt very seriously we will be out of Iraq by 2011. Sadly enough.

I’m looking For answers. I’m currently in the hiring process with KBR as a Apprentice Electrician. I,m set to ship out for processing Nov.2 08.
This is what my requirements were proof of Certification as Electrician and state licenses as a apprentice. Question is is there a master to register me for my hours for my journymans exam?
I’m a purple heart vet who serviced in Iraq twice, question once assigned to a base are you subject to change bases if so how do you get there? I’m assigned to to Camp Tallil Iraq, I was started at 108k with overtime and all the good stuff, Question do you really work alot of overtime as a electrician?
Ms Sparky’s Response:
First of all…thanks for serving! There are plenty of Master’s over there. Talk to your State and find out what the requirements are!! Second…there is no overtime. All hours are straight time. You work a minimum of 84 hours a week…and they can move you anywhere anytime!

I had a kbr recruiter on my phone last night here in England for over an hour yesterday evening offering me a job for a maximum 11 months contract as a Master Elelctrican in Bagdhad. This and various other websites/youtube have all filled me with horror and I won’t be taking up the offer.
He quoted that my monthly salary would be US$14,230 per month, can anyone confirm if this is an accurate figure for a Master Electrican?
I phoned the Inland Revenue office this morning and they said that if I wanted to avoid paying tax on these earnings I would have to be out in Iraq a full 12 month tax year (April to April here in the UK) this means I would be paying tax at 40% of earnings for the entire length of my 11 month contract, which equates to ÂŁ40,000 out of the absoloute maximum of ÂŁ100,000. I can earn ÂŁ40,000 here in the UK so I’d be going to a war zone for ÂŁ20,000…….not really worth it in my book.
Can anybody recommend any other contactors who may treat and pay their employees with a fair degree of more respect? Great site Ms Sparky, keep up the good work you and your excellent contributors are doing….as we say in England “THEY DONT LIKE IT UP ‘EM!!”
Ms Sparky’s Response:
Yes that is about the right salary for a Master Electrician. Be careful though. Make sure your contract states $5000 base before you sign it. None of this, wait till you get to Iraq and they will fix it crap! I’ve heard IAP is a pretty good company.

My husband signed a contract that mentions the uplift percents, but for the base pay it just shows “base rate”. It does not indicate an amount. He was just hoping they were going to do what they promised at $122,000 annually for a journeyman, not a master. It scares me now because we really don’t know what to expect.
Any insight? Thank you.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
His base rate should be $3750 for a licensed journeyman. It should be on the last page of his contract. The 75% uplift is only on the first 40 hours. You have every right to be nervous. I get complaints all the time that recruiters misled people or down right out lied.

my husband just arrived at camp victory for additional training, after being in Houston for week and half. we are not really clear on when any pay starts. He was told the moment he arrives in Dubais (he landed there prior to camp victory) that he would be on payroll at the base rate of pay for 8 hours a day, even though training is 12 hours a day. Do you have any estimates of what we can expect with first check. One other comment I wanted to let prospective employees know is that, before my husband went to Houston, he had a conference call with other prospective employees and a KBR recruiter. He had it on speaker phone and we both know what we heard. They told that group that when they leave Houston they would get a two week advance. What he actually received was $500 and when I contacted recruiter, she said she doesn’t know why we were misinformed. Oops! That left me in a bind back home with my 3 kids, thinking we were going to be getting something and not having to wait another month.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
I’ve never heard of the two week advance. But, that doesn’t mean that isn’t what he was told. I don’t hold KBR recruiters in high regard. Normally it is a $500 cash advance they day yo head to the airport. And unless it has changed recently, your pay started “wheels up” in Houston. Not “wheels down” in Dubai. But again, if there is a way KBR can screw you out of money they will. As far as working 12 and getting paid for 8…that’s just BS even if it is training. I’d be putting 12 on my timesheet. He didn’t go over there to work for free.
As soon as he has made $1000 he should be able to take a cash advance and then western union it. Or some people priority mailed the cash…not recommended. This late in the month, you might get a partial check the first Friday in December. If not then, it will the first Friday in January.

Ms. Sparky, Thank you for such an informative web site. I have learned more by reading your site than the weeks of trying to research KBR online. I have so many questions but my main one goes back to pay scale. You mentioned base pay is $3750 and the uplift is only for the 40 hours. So the base pay is for 40 hours weekly not 84 hours? Then after the 40 hours he is paid strait time at what rate? Do you know what the actual hourly rate for base pay is? Based on that I don’t come up with the $122,000 they are telling him he will make?? Thank you.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
It’s insanely complicated to figure out and that’s the way they like it. That way you never know if they are cheating you!! $3750 is the monthly base and it’s based on 40 hours per week. I got about 21.63/hour. I could off a little. 21.63X84=1817. Then take 21.63x40x.75(uplift)=649. Add 1817+649=2466/week. Which is about $10K a month. So that would be about 122,000. It’s close. Don’t forget they are taking out SS and Medicare now. And only the first $84-$87K is tax free IF he stays out of the country 330 days out of 365. County those R&R days closely. Talk to a tax person that knows how to deal with expat workers. Be sure to tell him about my website. There’s some big stuff coming down soon.
Friday, November 21st 2008 at 5:45 am |
It was mentioned on your web site that a new company will be taking over some of the stuff from KBR the first of the year?? Do you know how that will effect the people that signed a contract with KBR? I mean it sounds like the employees will just have to take/accept whatever the new company decides. You mentioned some big stuff coming down soon. That doesn’t sound good. Any insight? Thank you. Sandy
Ms Sparky’s Response:
I don’t know how the transition to LOGCAP IV will affect former KBR emloyees. I just can’t imagine the new contractor would make it so painful and miserable that people would quit. But I’ve seen some pretty stupid stuff.
Yes…there is some very very big stuff coming down. I can’t talk about it yet. This should not affect the average workers job in Iraq. If anything maybe it will make it better. But the managers..their heads are on the block. Rest assured….I will be blogging about it the minute I can. I will also forward to CNN and The New York Times.

My husband was originally told he was going to Anaconda. Today he found out he is going to Tallil Iraq. I can’t find much out about this site. Do you have any resources?
Thanks
Sandy
Ms Sparky’s Response:
I was in Baghdad. All I know about Tallil is that it is an airbase in southern Iraq near Nasiriyah. Airbases tend to be a lot bigger than other FOB’s. So it’s less likely that the indirect fire (mortars and rockets) will hit something or someone. I wouldn’t spend too much time worry about which camp he is going to at this point. KBR could change it 5-6 times before he finally lands somewhere and then they would change it again!

kbr is a piece of shit company that is run by the shit us goveroment you cant do any thing with them i worked in iraq from feb 04 to jun 05 at anconda as a equip operator they have a bunch ofgood old boys there and im a school teacher in the department of correction in tennessee anconda would be a good place to open a prison they are all fucking inmates
Ms Sparky’s Response:
Thanks for the great comment. If you have any information about fraud, waste, abuse, corruption, human trafficking or criminal activity…just to name a few….shoot me an email.
Tuesday, December 30th 2008 at 7:27 pm |
I WAS ON A FOB THAT GOT HIT A WHOLE FREAKING LOT. I JUST LEFT THEATER BECAUE THE MONEY WAS BEING SAID TO BE COMING BUT I NEVER SEEN IT. AND IT IS ONLY FAIR FOR THE ELECTRICANS AND PLUMBERS. WE ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT EVEN HAVE A JOURNEYMAN OR MASTERS LICENSE. I CAN GET A EPA CARD AND SAY I AM AN HVAC MECHANIC. SO THE WHOLE WAGE DEAL WAS AND IS WRONG. AND IS SURELY WRONG WHEN YOU ARE TAKEN AT LEAST 100 ROCKETS IN 2 MONTHS, INSIDE THE CAMP……YOU GO FIGURE, IS IT FAIR PEOPLE IN BAF GET AS MUCH????????
Ms Sparky’s Response:
I don’t think there is anything fair about KBR and the way they pay people.

I worked in iraq as a truck driver between 10/06 and 07/07, I was hired at a time when they had a big hiring surge going on. As a matter of fact they needed driver’s so badly that we recieved absoultly no training when we arrived in annaconda, just enough time to get thru the paper work. Of course we did not relize this until we arrived at the job site. So basically is was OJT all the way. That being said after 6 month’s or so we were blessed with a new supervisor besides being a racist was sent there primarly to thin the herd, of course he denied being sent there as a head hunter. But the fact’s speak for themselves, he made life there so miserably that nobody could stand it, it wasn’t exactly paradise before he arrived but at least it was tenable. People started turning on each other I won’t even get into the back stabing and brown nosing that was going on. I myself was terminated for commiting a minor safety violation where no property was damaged or other personal were in any danger. I won’t go into detail’s because it would take too long but I will say that our supervisor was black I am white there was another drive involved in the same incident that I was he was black also, I foolishly in retrospect told the truth about what happened and the other driver lied his ass off about his part, all I no is the fact of the matter is that I was the one who was fired and the other driver got 3 day’s off without pay and went back too work. So you can draw your own conclusion’s. I would have tried to take kbr to court but women are getting raped over there and can’t get any justice so I figured what chance would I have.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
I know. I was physically assaulted on the job by a co-worker that was always high in drugs. HR just blew it off. I was the problem. My GF was a freakin’ assh*le idiot. Anyway…I never did try to sue KBR either. I just chalk it up to….”well wasn’t that just damn interesting!”

I was one of the Master Plumbers quoted $9000 a month in July ’08 by my recuiter. It has not even been close. My Master Plumbing license with 20+ years experience makes the same as an Apprentice Plumber and a Journeyman Plumber. $2583 base. It took me six years to get my Master License. It takes an Apprentice one day to fill out the card. But yet we make the same. I am currently in CJOA. Flying from FOB to FOB jumping out of black hawks over and over again. Taking rockets every now and then. My hazard pay is the same as one that works in the DFAC at BAF. I haven’t yet figured out the pay scale or how they came up with it. So if anyone has any answers. I would like to hear them.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
Here’s the payscale. Pay the least we can for as long as we can. NO ONE but electricians,( maybe HVAC, someone confirm) have gotten a raise and the other crafts are not going to get one. Sorry! I get a lot of complaints from licensed plumbers.

You know what I’m gonna do,go back home take a week course and get a pest control certificate, come back as vector
Ms Sparky’s Response:
My least favorite guy!! If he was going after mice, spiders or snakes thats one thing. But we had a couple of pet domestic rabbits in our camp that were hurting NOTHING!! And he killed them. He killed anything that wan’t human! Didn’t like him for that reason alone.
Saturday, December 5th 2009 at 3:54 pm |
Ms Sparky, what do you know about structural pest? What do you know about the Vector SOW? Apparently nothing. You talk as if Vector Control people are put out there without any sense for their mission. KBR Vector personnel were never authorized to put animals down; instead, they were to turn them over to Military veterinarians.
Saturday, December 5th 2009 at 4:33 pm |
Well….Vector 1 I don’t know what camp your at, but I know for a fact that Vector Control kills dogs and cats……many of which have been adopted, vaccinated and taken care of by soldiers. And they didn’t turn them over the Military Veterinarians. Actually I’ve never heard of KBR Vector Control turning an animal over the Military Vets. Maybe they have…..but I’ve never heard of it.
You guys need to focus more on the mean nasty venomous managers and leave the puppies alone.
Saturday, December 5th 2009 at 5:40 pm |
How do you know if he did not turn over these animals? Your think is not sound when some gets rabies or violate GO#1 for having pets or mascots and when the vector guys do there job i guess KBR is in the wrong again. Keep listening to those folks who cry when they do there job. I thought for change KBR is on the job. You said you were in the Green Zone well they do have a vet in the Green zone and i believe policy states they are to be turned over to the vet or military representive. Let me guess i see you were out yet again snopping in another crafts business or where you doing some electrical work for vector. I guess they put them down by bashing them in the head or using kinetic force or yet again used control drugs to do the job. Keep listening those folks who complain about Vector doing there job.
Friday, February 12th 2010 at 3:34 am |
Ms Sparky, there is a Pest Management Plan existing at each of the Military Installations listing out pest of concern in order of significance. Furthermore, control methods are specified as well. Non-chemical, least harmful methods of control are given priority. When audited by the DCMA, records and reports are reviewed and any inconsistencies are addressed.
So, if you witnessed some deviant behaviors on part of some of pest management professionals, those have acted out of line of business!
Regards
Vector 1
Friday, February 12th 2010 at 6:10 am |
I hope so. I myself have utilized vector control while in Iraq. As far as I’m concerned scorpions, spiders and snakes have no place on this earth. (All you bug and snake lovers….don’t even bother trying to get me to change my mind….won’t happen) This whole balance of nature thing….over rated!
My disdain is for those who seemed to delight in killing dogs and other animals. Many dogs were vaccinated and vet checked and belonged to units or commanders. They had no kill orders. Or the two rabbits in Camp Hope. Those were there for quite a long time without reproducing. They wouldn’t let you touch them. So what was the harm?
Too many stories from too many camps to let me think is was an isolated attitude.
Friday, February 12th 2010 at 10:53 am |
Then if they had all of these pets then they were blantly violating Gen Order number 1 no pets or mascots. We are not there to decide what is the harm or not. If the rules read no pets then that means no pets. Everywhere you will have a bleeding heart whining about the poor animal until some gets bit or scratch by fluffy the dog or morris the cat. Example i had some crying spec 4 saying the jackals howling was annoying well i think we are invading there space so we should live with them not the normal human way of just killing a species. There is always going to be some sorry ass who thinks they are still in Germany or the US and Iraq should be like garrison WRONG ANSWER. It is time to stop the pacification of the soliders they are in the service to fight not go to green bean, burger king or subway. In Afghanistan on cushy Bagram those eateries are going away. Get back to fighting a war not sitting on your sorry as at Green Bean complaining about the internet or why i cannot have a private hooch.
Friday, February 12th 2010 at 11:12 am |
Ksniper…..just a gentle reminder, those “sorry asses” are the client. KBR provides a service to “the client”. Without “the client” you are out of a job. GO1 belongs to the Military. If “the client” gives a stay of execution to a dog….then so be it.
Tuesday, May 18th 2010 at 2:48 pm |
Ms. Sparky. You are wrong. Vector has always turned animals either to the military vet or Prev Med. And what YOU think Vector should focus on and what the MILITARY thinks Vector should focus on are 2 diffrent things. Do you know what the rabies rate is in Iraq? Do you know know exactly what a VECTOR is? You get on here and blast all these contract companies, but at the end of the day, these are the same companies that helped pay your bills. So please do the people who actually use this as a means to an end, and leave us alone. I’m sure you have a few bones in your closet…
Tuesday, May 18th 2010 at 4:38 pm |
I love it when people use the ALWAYS word. Unless you have ALWAYS been in Iraq and have been to EVERY camp then you ONLY know what you know.
Tuesday, May 18th 2010 at 5:24 pm |

I am not sure how many, but i am sure you will let the forum know tomorrow. According to the article it was found on a computer at his residence in Florida. Also his roommate was arrested as well. I am sure Mrs Crawford you will inform us of this alleged criminal acts this is according the the news article.

Now thats not always so for other parts of the country. What state are you from? and dont say Texas
Ms Sparky’s Response:

Well all I can say is. They won’t have me longer than the 12 months I signed up for. Unless the pay changes. If it wasn’t for the 330 days out of country. They wouldn’t still have me now. I wish I would have found this site before I made the mistake of going to work for KBR.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
That damn 330. If it hadn’t been for that I would have quit many time! Stick it out, but share your experiences with others. And tell people about my blog so they can share they experiences too. Be Safe.

HI. I’ve just come across your website, and I’m so glad I did.
I’m a UK qualified electrician and saw an ad in a British national newspaper from KBR for UK qualified electricians to work in Iraq.
I visited the website and duly filled out the forms and to cut a long story short I was due to fly to Houston on the 19th January 2009.
Having viewed the comments on here and Electriciantalk.com I will no longer be going.
Many thanks for opening my eyes
Regards.

Whats the deal with this hat and lanyard crap? I started on the LOGCAP project in 2004 and never had to wear that. I left in July 2007 and came back in Oct.2008 and HR tells me if she catches me without a KBR hat and lanyard that not only myself but my Supervisor will get 3-5 days off without pay. But when I have to go out on missions to small FOB’s the millitary tells us to take the cap and lanyard off so that we will not display KBR to the locals. Why is KBR trying to be a dictator like Iraq and North Korea? And they wonder why all the good people always leave.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
That is typical KBR BS. They will threaten to punish you if you don’t your wear a hat an lanyard but if you commit a crime like theft or rape or get assaulted they turn a blind eye.
I always thought it was about being able to identify KBR employees that were out of their work areas. I think it is pretty much BS. So I didn’t wear mine. And I don’t wear baseball hats.
It’s just another way to harass employees.
Monday, January 5th 2009 at 8:02 pm |
As for the raise that was suppose to happen, we were sent out an e-mail that said the raise was just a hoax and that we will not be getting a raise. Maybe someone can answer me this question. If we are Contract workers for KBR and we do not have to be paid for time and a half for overtime, then how can we be susidiaries of KBR through SEII? How can you be a Subsidiary and a contract worker at the same time?
Ms Sparky’s Response:
You work for SEII. SEII is contracted to KBR to provide the manpower. KBR did this to avoid the millions in payroll taxes (which was deemed illegal and that loophole was closed) and to isolate them from legal liability, which isn’t really working for them.
Friday, January 9th 2009 at 12:42 pm |
I have been trying very hard to get on with a overseas company but i’ve had no luck. I am just looking for a entry level position they say you have to know someone to get on with kbr is that true.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
Go to KBRjob.com and apply. Start with all the Labor Foreman positions. Many of those positions do not require any experience.

Just wanted to know if the pay is the if I were to go to Kuwait as a plumber rather than Iraq? With Dyn Corp!
Ms Sparky’s Response:
I don’t know what Dyncorp is paying. Hopefully more than KBR. KBR in Kuwait makes much less than KBR in Iraq.

To AmericanTatts: I wish I had seen your post earlier . . but I can’t resist, the KBR hats and lanyards are bright red . . it’s not to make sure you are in the right work area it just makes you a bigger target for sniper fire or to zero in the range for the mortars!! Don’t forget that the TTM drivers had to wear flouscent orange vests while working . . K (kill’em) B (bag’em) R (replace’em) and KBR just keeps getting more contracts!!!

We got Forest Gump mother fucker’s in Superintendant position’s that can not use correct grammer or spelling when sending simple emails. His email reads as if he didn’t make it out of the 5th grade. I would blow up his spot and give you his name. However, out of respect for my co-workers I will not give the idiots name but instead a simple clue to his identity. He is a CJOA Superintendent working out of BAF. His initials are M.D.. BLUF I got you!!! (inside joke). By the way MD doesn’t stand for Master’s Degree. Stupid is as stupid does (Forest Gump).
Ms. Sparky any word on LOGCAP IV and the alledged trades wages? Holla back!

KBR not allowed to bid for anymore LOGCAP cantracts as per our meeting this morning. O&M gone and TTM staying. I’m screwed, I’m TTM. And as for the Hat and Lanyard policy, no more days off. It’s immediate termination if caught with out it on properly.

MD He must work under KBR BAF Construction Manager Elijah Middleton. Who is a glorified carpenter who couldn’t find work stateside. They brought him back after a stint at Salerno only to return to BAF as the C.M.

I have a wife and 2 children, 34 years old, and with 15 years of experience in the HVAC industry. Currently I make 60k in the states and would like to know what kind of money I could make overseas in a combat zone.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
About 85K for KBR working 84 hours a week. If you are making 60K in the States I would just stay there.

I just got out of the marine corps been unemployed for months now and cant find any work. i was a generator mech for my 5 1/2 year stent and been to iraq twice. i have been planning to go back and work for KBR but what a page of response. now i’m not sure, i was plaining on this being to start to my familys future but now?????????
my ? to ms sparky is what could or does a generator mech make with kbr. what are the R&Rs like “three months on, two weeks off” or what? i dont have any kind of certificates or degrees just experiance, would i still be able to get hired?
thank you for your time Ms. Sparky
P.S. let me go over there and find someone rape some women. i’ll make them wish there god would remove them from this plain.
Good luck and safe jounry to all that are there, civilian or military. if your there to make some kind of a better world for others or yourself, no matter, be safe.
Ms Sparky’s Response:
Thanks for serving Marine!! KBR is losing contracts and has lost all of Afghanistan for LOGCAP IV. Apply to Fluor and Dyncorp as well. Get your resume on Monster.com. Stress your military and middle east experience. KBR Generator mechanics make about 100K a year working 7 days a week, at least 84 hours a week. All overtime is straight time. R&R are every 4 months for two weeks.
Good Luck

everything seems covered in mounds and mounds of paper work, the new quality plan…hahahah well ….enough said on that, seems the undereducated, un experieced, move up, and become supervisors etc,..time will tell with Fluor, but i saddly think, managers have a job the rest wil be sub contractors, that work cheaper. Many have said Flour wil only hire Americans, well we shall see..

I’m a unlicense elctrician with 9 years experience in commercial and industrial construction. I’ve had my resume on militaryhire.com for about 3 months now. Vega Corp. contacted me about a NEC certified electrician position in afganistan. I told him the soonest I could get my certification would be in early Oct. He asked me how much I salary would I want not being certified. I told him I was making 16.50 hr now which comes out around 35,000 before overtime, but have no idea what working in a war zone or hazardous duty pay would be. He told me to get online and search. I’ve tried to contact a friend there employeed by mantech, but haven’t heard from him yet. Do you know what I should be asking for? And if I get my certification before I go should it be more? And will I still be able to use my hrs. towards my journeymans license?

Dear Ms Sparky,
Thanks for all your responses and for others too… I have few questions :

2. Would you suggest me to take a job over there?
3. How about safety in base camp?

Hi. I’m prior service army and mos 63J, quartermaster and chemical equiptment repairer. was also certified hvac in iraq for ac mechanic but have miss placed the certificate. I never did that job after i left ait. My question is can I apply for ac mechanic if i dont have the proof of being certified or can i apply for my mos, generator mechanic basically, even though i never did it after ait. do you get any kind of refresher course once u get there or are you pretty much on your own. any comments will be greatly appreciated.
